After a little more than a year on Broadway on January 3rd 2010 Shrek the Musical will play its final performance.
Dispite having the "Shrek" name on its side, and its top talent cast, Shrek the Musical never really found a "audience" on Broadway.
Shrek the musical will have played 441 performances and 37 previews (January 3rd) and will be missed by many fans and theater goers.
I am so happy to have my ticket for the Final Performance to this great show and its so sad to see it closing.
Reflect upon this great Musical Here.

I saw Shrek in June and August. Loved it each time! Do you guys remember back in August when they announced Ben Crawford becoming the new Shrek and tickets on Sale till May 2010... Can't wait to see it in my hometown, Chicago!
Can't wait to go see it in Chi-town as well!!!

At first, I did think that this show would be very corny. After I saw it, I thought it wa very decent. I think that the musical is a bit more "dark" and "mature" than the movie. And that's what made it a nice experience. I hope they have a great cast for the tour.
I was one of those who thought this would be the worst musicals ever because I didn't like the movies. However, once I saw some television performances, and kept getting drawn in because Christopher Sieber was in the cast, I decided to go see it in June when I was visiting the city for four days. I ended up winning the lotto.
It was just a fun show, and am not ashamed to have seen it. The cast was excellent, and it became one of my favorite shows I saw on that trip.
I really love this show. It made me happy and I very much enjoyed Brian D'Arcy James' performance.
I am so sad that is closing. I will be seeing it for my 5th time on Sunday. Saveusmike- Where are you sitting?

Very sad to see this show go, but I look foreward to seeing it in Dallas., Farewell "Shrek" and best wishes to the cast.
Any news on the DVD release?
I will also be attending the final performance on Sunday afternoon. It'll be my 6th time seeing the show, but the first time with Ben Crawford as Shrek, the new Teen and Young Fiona's, a few of the newer ensemble members, and the new finale. I'm really excited to be able to see the show one last time, but also a little upset to see it go because this show was my vice all throughout 2009. Hopefully I can see it on tour if/when it comes near Buffalo.
Faith587, where are you sitting? You will like Ben, he is very good. I saw him back in May and didn't really miss not seeing Brian, as I had previously saw him.

Sad to see this misunderstood musical go. Underneath its spectacle and million-dollar sets and costumes, Shrek was really just a sweet little show written by two of modern Broadway's brightest minds and starring some of Broadway's biggest talents. Christopher Sieber and Brian D'Arcy James deserved Tony awards their year, no joke.

I saw it for the first time actually a year ago today and then again in July, I personally really liked it and am sad to see it go.
Also: I really hope that Chris Sieber finds his way back to the stage ASAP. Especially loved his improv towards the end of the run.
And Ben Crawford has a great voice, just don't love his character accents. Nevertheless he is very talented and hope to see him as well on the stage again.

I actually heard Chris might tour with the show.

The musical is very underrated. The lyrics to the songs were very clever and lots of effort was put into the whole show.

anyone planning on lining up for Student Rush on Sunday? I want to go but I'm not sure how early I should come to make sure I get a ticket. Any time suggestions?
wdw I dont have the ticket infront of me at the moment but I know its first row Mezzanine. how about yourself??
Center Orchestra Row E, like the fifth or fourth seat in.
I enjoy the score and the cast is/was superb. The book is the big problem.
I saw it on June 4, 2009. It was such a fun show. Sutton Foster was incredible and I LOVED the set design and the lighting. I hope the national tour does well and stays true to the Broadway production!
such a great show. this will be my second time seeing it, since i saw the first NY preview. looking forward to attending the show on sunday and seeing all the changes they put into place, especially the finale.

Great show! I didn't expect to, but I did, enjoy it a lot! I'm so sad to see it go AND that I won't be able to catch it one more time before it closes. To everyone who will get another chance to see it: enjoy!
