Has anyone seen "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas: The Musical" at Madison Square Garden lately? I know it just opened at the Garden a week ago but just curious to hear some thoughts.

Got tickets from TDF for next Friday (12-28 ) for $26. Pretty good deal for a Holiday show in New York during Christmas Week!

Let me know!

I saw it last weekend. It was cute, but also sort of lame at some points. But, the thing to remember is that it was more meant for children, which is why I guess I didn't find parts very funny. Jeff McCarthy was good as The Grinch.

Wait, is there two tours? Grinch is in my town. I know the MSG has newly designed sets so it would make sense

There is a national tour which is currently playing in Detroit through the end of the year. It also made stops in Hartford, Richmond, and Chicago. The company at MSG previously performed in Boston. It's all the same show though, just different casts. Updated On: 12/23/12 at 01:06 AM

Is there sufficient audience for the Radio City show, ELF, CHRISTMAS STORY and GRINCH? None of these exactly offer cheap tickets. I guess we've always had a lot of holiday material on hand (the annual MSG CAROL), but it's never been more expensive for a family. Unlike the WHITE CHRISTMAS revival, these pieces are more child-centered. Please, I'm not Scrooge-ing here, just wondering about the commercial viability.

I highly dislike going to the "Theater at MSG". Patrons who arrive 30 or 45 minutes late, patrons who keep getting up to get popcorn or soda or use the bathroom, patrons who are screaming at the top of their lungs at their kids, kids throwing popcorn on the floor, soda spilled on the floor, over-amplified volume, and impossible to see anything if you are in the 300-level seats in the back (usually also the 200-level seats). Worst theater-going experience of my life.

As an alternative, I'd suggest Elf which I loved - it was a well-behaved tourist audience and loved going to the Hirschfeld with great sight lines (and a great cast and storyline). Or of course the Radio City Rockettes (which even though is a huge theater doesn't have the problems described above at all; this is a classy venue.) The Grinch is the totally opposite experience, as bad as it gets.

I actually didn't have issues seeing in the 200 level. But yes, I agree about lateness and people not whispering. I mentioned that stuff to my sisters and they were giving people the excuse because they had children and they would get angry. Sorry, but having children should not exclude people from following rules or setting a good example.
