Dr. Zhivago

Anyone know anything about this? Like does anyone know if it will come to Broadway?

I loved the movie.

Thanks

Dr. Zhivago

I saw it and honestly I think it's horrible. I posted something along the lines of "Cliché, boring, uninsightful...Warlow's 'character' is as deep as a sheet of cardboard. As emotional as a switch board.".

I haven't seen the movie.

Thanks - what a shame. I will say the music posted was less than thrilling but was hoping that was just my impression but, I guess not. Dr. Zhivago

I just noticed on their website that they are advertising it as "IT'S BROADWAY BOUND – SEE IT FIRST ".

I guess it seems obvious that they have this intention - considering Lucy Simon and Des McAnuff...

I wonder if Warlow will make a Broadway debut, if it ever happens.

The curtain is up when you walk in.

The book is confusing, even if you know the plot..

Dr. Zhivago

I spent several years trying to acquire the rights to Dr. Zhivago for a Broadway musical, from MGM and the Pasternak estate. What a mess that was. I even formed an alliance with David Lean's ex-partner but Garth Drabinsky had scooped them up, so to quote Bones in Trek II "He's already dead, Jim." Poor Zhivago (who should have been the subject of a Les Miz size spectacle) never stood a chance.

It has been signed for a Korean season. Warlow has been very vocal that he will be playing Dr Z should it go to Broadway. It was part of the deal. I also did not really like it.

This had a tryout in San Diego (?) a few years ago. I would have thought that if it had been any good it would have would have been fast tracked to Broadway. Instead it sat on the shelf for a while then turns up in Australia and now it's "Broadway Bound" ? I think not.

I have such a huge soft spot for Lucy Simon thanks to Secret Garden, that I was hoping to hear better word of mouth about this - the Australian newspaper reviews were largely pretty positive. From the youtube clips the score sounds... alright. A few very pretty songs even if they don't capture me the way most of Garden did, but it does look like it easily could suffer the way these epic musicals post Les Miz have...

They are looking at a Broadway opening in April next year, just before the Tony cutoff.

But Warlow might be on the great white way before than!!!
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

I know that RUG has made several attempts to get him to bring his Phantom to Broadway- but he has turned them down every time. I know he also had some serious health problems back in the mid-90's that prevented him as well. What a voice though!
