Dracula CD

This deserves it's own thread. What effect do you think James Barbour's arrest will have on the sales? Do you still plan to buy it? If you were not planning on buying it will this make you more or less likely to buy it?
PEACE.

re: Dracula CD

G-d, you are SO original!

Well, I WAS going to buy it. But I don't care for the way Jeremy Roberts holds himself around here.

And I was going to buy J&H until I found out Brandi and Frank are dating...I don't want no hussy on a CD.

It's out?

re: Dracula CD

Sueleen is OH SO comically referring to a joke I made in the James Barbour thread.

I said, "I wonder if this will have a negative effect on the Dracula CD."

re: Dracula CD

Oh haha. I don't think anyone in mainstream American could careless about James Barbour and his Dracula CD. I'm def. buying the CD. is it out now? I knew it came out in April, but wasn't sure when. And Frank is dating Brandi for real? Jeez. That just seems weird to me.

Next week.

To quote Bernarda Alba (a GOOD musical), "There's just something not right about it. Anyone can see that."

Yeah, I feel the same way. I actually wanted to buy it after the Barbour news came out just in case it was pulled, but then I remembered Jeremy's replies here, and would rather not encourage him.

It's highly unlikely any statements will be made until more factual information is presented. Trust me. This is not easy to deal with and I'm sure it would be appreciated that more speculation not be added to an already tough situation.

re: Dracula CD

BSO, didn't you used to think DRACULA was brilliant?

re: Dracula CD

Being that he just called BERNARDA ALBA a very-emphatic "GOOD" musical, I'd say that's entirely possible.

Andrew, tonight isn't about you! It isn't even about me!!! - [FD]

Yeah, the CD release is on hold once again. No release date at this time.

re: Dracula CD

No, I think Bernarda is great - top 3 favorite shows this season.

I never said Dracula was brilliant. I would never say that. I said I enjoyed it. It's my guilty pleasure. I know what's wrong with it.

But the point, here, is that this recording doesn't reflect the show.

Just because you don't like somehting (or half the world doesn't like somehting) doesn't mean I can't like it.

This CD is being held up so it can coincide with the revival of the show. They will both happen at the same time

re: Dracula CD

Global Vision made it clear that no official statement will be made at this time, and we should wait and see.

As for my personal opinion, the situation is serious and requires care, but until a jury of peers makes a decision (if it goes that far), we are to presume innocence. I believe the cd should be released as is, if not broadly through stores, at least through GV's site. Roman Polanski, who was actually convicted of a serious and somewhat related crime, went on to direct films and theatre and recently won an Oscar for one of his efforts. I'm not making a direct comparison, but let the consumer make the decision. Based on the clips for Dracula, it sounds like a very worthwhile recording that deserves a chance with its current vocals, if handled carefully.

What's this about an arrest? I must have missed this.

I do have my opinions on the matter, but I do not wish to start another "James Barbour Arrested" thread.

re: Dracula CD

Here the statement from Jeremy:

"We are not prepared to make a formal statement regarding James Barbour. We are just as upset and shaken up about the published report as everyone, and we understand the consequences and severity of the charges. As details surface and we hear directly from Jim, we will make our decision as to the future of the release. All I can say is that for now, we will not be shipping Dracula anytime soon, so I am sad."

As one can imagine, there are moral and financial issues to ponder with this whole situation. It'll be a tough road ahead. Be cool about it, as none of us walk in any of these shoes.
