Posted: 1/2/05 at 7:17pmVery sad. I got freaked out when I walked into the theater seeing a bunch of people in ruffels, capes, and with vampire fangs. Frank Wildhorn was in the audience and by the end of the show, he was crying, as was the rest of the cast. Tom and Melissa gave it their all today and it showed. At the stage door, Melissa started crying a little and Tom began quoting the Rocky Horror Show. All in all, it was a pretty good afternoon. BTW, Frank told people who asked about the recording that they were finishing it up tomorrow. It should be released in the near future. Also, Melissa told the autograph seekers that she's going to start recording her newest album this week.

Posted: 1/2/05 at 7:30pmthe funny part was that i may or may not insulted him....i asked about the "infamous recording that was in the ny post" and he got upset.

unnecessary to be upset -- is he planning on NOT revealing who is on the cd once the cd is released and just having people guess who the voices are?
hes a shady man.

Posted: 1/2/05 at 8:15pmI was talking to him today and he said that he can't reveal that yet, it will be listed on the actual album *shrugs* he also said that there would be songs on it that were not in the show. I'm assuming it would be songs that were in La Jolla that they cut out, but he wouldn't say. The only thing he'd say is that we should go get it.

Posted: 1/2/05 at 9:35pmDo we know if the cd will have all the songs that are in the show?

Posted: 1/2/05 at 10:18pmCan anyone review the show? I am interested to hear how it went.

Posted: 1/2/05 at 10:49pmdon't make me sad - when i told tom i saw it twice, he put his hand on my shoulder and said, "that's what i like to hear."

Posted: 1/2/05 at 10:58pmDidn't mean to make anyone sad, just wanted to know how the show went. I loved it too, saw it, like, 3 times. Wish I could have gone today, but my parents said no.

Posted: 1/2/05 at 11:24pmJames Barbour is DRACULA on the new CD. I'm not 100% sure, but he said on his mailing list that he has a new CD coming out sometime in January and that he's not allowed to say what it is, but he will as soon as he can... so I think it's him, but I won't get to say "I told you so..." until we know for sure... anyway, the CD is gonna be awesome. It's rumored that they recorded "The Invitation" which is fantastic becasue it's one of the best songs that was cut, not to mention one of the best songs from the show period.

I told Tom I saw it 10 times and aside from all the odd pictures he took with me and the fact that he recognized me after the 5th time, he gave me a huge hug and was like thank you so much blah blah blah :)
Okay let's see how well I can review the show for TGIF...
ACT 1
Harker's solo in the beginning went just as well as always but you couldn't really hear the first line or 2 because of the applause for Darren
Dracula opens the door- deafening (spelling?) applause for Tom he had to wait to start speaking. His quiet life song was good...I personally have seen him do it better but between the fact that is was closing night and all the matinees that went on this week it was still very good.
Fresh Blood was very good and Tom again got an applause after he bit Harker and popped up younger. Something (a little white box) dropped from Tom's pockey during that song and I'd really like to know what is was *shrugs*
All of Kelli (Lucy's) songs went very well. I personally thought she did the best at fighting off her emotions because until bows you couldn't really tell that this was anything other than a normal show for her. I was quite proud of her.
Life after Life was probably the biggest disappointment for me and I still found it incredible. It seemed to me that bout 5 words into it Tom, who's been with the show since way back in La Jolla realized that he'd never be singing it again. His voice wasn't as powerful as the other times he's sang it and we went off key for about 2 seconds. Nothing that I sat there and couldn't bear to hear but I felt bad cuz he was fighting back emotions.
ACT 2
Melissa held back her emotions very well for both her solos (a lot better than I would have :) ) I could see her struggling though, throughout the entire second act to keep from crying or getting upset.
Deep in the Darkest Night where Seward, Morris, Van Helsing, and Holmwood sing was still very good. I couldn't see facial expressions that well but my friend who was sitting closer said they looked more depressed than usual during there song (who could blame them)
Before the Summer Ends- Harker's big solo...I thought it was absolutely incredible. He went up on a note that he usually goes down, there was more emotion (it's supposed to be an emotional song) than he's ever had which made it so much better, and I realized just how powerful his voice is. He his every note cleanly and beautifully. I was probably happier with this song than any others.
Tom's big solo- very good as usual. It was kind of funny because the coffin door usually closes right after he's done but because the applause was so big they held it open for until it was over.
The finale was heartbreaking for me...I couldn't really watch a lot of it because I was sobbing, but from what I saw, although both were fighting back emotions, they pulled it off very well.
Bows were sad...laughing, wiping away tears, etc. everything that can be expected.
Don- who played Renfield was good as always. He seemed to be holding back a little, but nothing major, but there were a lot of shows in this past week, he has a new baby at home, and it's closing night so who knows how much of his voice was really left.
Overall...was an incredible show...mostly just as good as all the other times I've seen it. Anything that seemed a little off to me from all the other times I've seen it except the fact that it was closing night and I had to watch my favorite show close (the stuff I mentionedcan easily be attributed to emotions..a couple of voice cracks, some tiny off-key notes.) Nothing huge and I love everyone, especially Tom even more :) I was disappointed however, that there were no speeches or anything. Frank Wildhorn was there too so it was upsetting that nothing was said.
This is just my looooooong personal review. If somebody else could review so I get other's opinions please do!!

Here's my review, since I now have time to go into specifics....
Powerful stuff. Lots of laughter in places where I had never seen it before (i.e. Quincy saying "crumbs in the bed" and everyone giving him dirty looks). Act one had entrance applause for every single character which really disturbed the pacing of the show. The actors seemed to have ignored it and spoke right through it. Tom was great as usual, Melissa was at her finest, the best I've ever seen from her. Kelli also was great, too bad she's only in act one. Don was hysterical, everyone else was great, too. At intermission, I over heard Wildhorn on his cell phone, calling his friends and raving about the show. His rave was just like everyone else's, well deserved for a show that closed too soon.

Thanks you two for the review. Although it wasn't the best show as of now on Broadway it was still very entertaining. Its sad when any show closes. I wish the actors all the luck in everything they do.
"Tom again got an applause after he bit Harker and popped up younger. Something (a little white box) dropped from Tom's pockey during that song and I'd really like to know what is was *shrugs*"
Oh man, I had to read that a couple times to figure out what "pockey" was. *slaps forehead*
