You know, I just knew you were gonna bring shame on this new family of ours, and it just figures you had to go make yourself over into some heroin-shootin skate board chic on the only day E! could interview you!" - Cherry Cherry, on her daughter Mary Cherry

well I saw the show last night and I have these good things to say:
- it was considerably more enjoyable without having to deal with the initial disappointment that came with seeing the La Jolla production. I went into it this time expecting a painfully bad show, and it was slightly better than that.
- Chuck Wagner was onstage
- Kelli O'Hara was onstage
- the book has been considerably cleaned up from La Jolla. While I couldn't sit thru 10 minutes of that production without inadvertently letting out an "Oh Christ!" or similar, I got thru the whole show last night with barely an audible chuckle
- Tom Hewitt has proven that he can do ANYTHING and keep a straight face! the man is a true performer and will be working for many years to come.
- the intermission was long enough to have several beers
"The last train out of any station will not be full of nice guys." - Dr. Hunter S. Thompson
"I wash my face, then drink beer, then I weep.
Say a prayer and induce insincere self-abuse,
till I'm fast asleep"- In Trousers
Several beers?Wow,Matt,you drink fast-it's a 20 min intermission. Loge,in Bram Stoker's Dracula,the monster is killed when Quincey,mortally wounded,stabs him in the heart w/his bowie knife-Johnathan Harker then cuts Dracula's throat w/his "great kukri knife"(whatever that is).No rakes.
I know! After I posted I was like, wait - they don't have a catergory for this. Well, the sets for Dracula are good too - especially the big statue in the tomb - I like that little thing, well big thing. The statue is the star of the commerical!
I guess design or soemthing.
"I've often said I should put sweets in my chair - they'd spend less time on my a** that way....." ~F.W.B.
write to the tony committee. tell them we want an award for best special effects and we want an award for "best" musical using the songs of a pre existing band and or music group. that way all those little all shook up shows can have their own category until the phase passes, or they could just not be eligible at all that would be a riot!
what shows would have won in the past for special effects? phantom? titanic? beauty and the beast maybe?
