"Dragon Boat Racing" from China at Lincoln Center

Dragon Boat Racing at Lincoln Center. I caught it tonight. It was an absolutely elegant, beautiful danced, piece of theatre. It's really a ballet, but it's very theatrical. There are some fantastic numbers in it.  This is from China. You aren't going to see anything like this again. It's the real thing. The choreography was at times, breathtaking. Set and Costumes were gorgeous. The music was cinematic and sweeping. I would urge you to go. It's really special. It deserves a bigger audience. imho.

I saw this Thursday night and was very pleasantly surprised, as my expectations were biased a bit by the kitschy theater I've seen in mainland China (although the ending drifts into that territory IMO). I completely echo your praise - this is a really special work that deserves a bigger audience and a better title. The current one undersells it and borderline misrepresents it.

On a side note, I got a kick out of how many people were taking photos (and with flash!) in the completely darkened theater.

I just read The NY Times review and I give up on ever reading their reviews again. They hated it. Everything about it, just about. To just dismiss this achievement with out finding any good in it at all is awful.
