Dream Cast For Movie "Follies" — Page 2

I just wonder how much older they can be made, without it being distorted on film. Unless they cast actresses in their sixties and make the reunion take place in 81 instead of 71.

My current dream cast

Phyllis - Vanessa Williams
Ben - Alec Baldwin
Buddy - Matthew Broderick
Sally - This one is always tough for me, because until her death, I wanted Natasha Richardson to play this role so bad. I don't know she'd handle the singing - and I'm not down on dubbing unless it's a voice that doesn't gel with the actor - but maybe Mary Louise Parker?


ETA - Anne Hathaway as Young Heidi would be total waste. Anne Hathaway as Young Sally on the other hand....

I think that's what SeanMartin was talking about. I've never been able to get my hands on the screenplay, but others have read it. I believe the locale was changed to a movie studio and that the Follies of the show became the Hollywood Muiscals of the 30s and early 40s.

His movies always blend the line between what's going on in reality and the character's mind which is the approach Follies needs. Nine not so much...

What does that mean?

And no Rob Marshall. No Bill Condon, either.

Phyllis: I should have said his movie musicals. What I meant was that I thought the songs as an inner monolouge approach worked well for Chicago. I didn't like it as much when applied to Nine. Just my oppinion.
