Although she has serious problems in other areas , I think a revival of her as Norma Desmond in Sunset Blvd would be great. She is in the are age wise & she has the pipes .

To Songstress & others pardon the omission. I was referring to Barbra Streisand
On her Back to Broadway album, she did her renditions of "As If We Never Said Goodbye" and "With One Look." They were beautiful. I support your suggestion. She could also be a great Mama Rose.

I saw Aida for the first time today, and was horribly dissapointed with it. I was bored, and didn't really care about anyone, slightly for Radames and a little at the end for Amneris.
Anyway, I think Mandy Gonzalez could make a good Millie. I don't think that Tammy Blanchard could play that role, vocally.
I agree- Tammy doesn't have the best voice even though her acting is superb. Mandy Gonzalez as Millie? Hmm...she could handle the rolw vocally, but I just can't see it. I like Jen Gambatese for the role better.

You really are a Bernadette/Gypsy fan, Bernadette88! Trust me, Aida is much better with a great cast. I love Toni, but she just doesn't handle the role very well.
Shoshanna Bean, Orfeh and Taylor Dayne as the Urchins in LS, with Heather Headly as Audrey. Now, THAT, would have been worth going to the theater for. It would have also been considered a complete and total reworking that could possibly have put the "ghost of Ellen Greene" to rest, once and for all. Or even, (for those who can't stand Taylor Dayne), Stacy Francis, instead. Now those are some freakish belters. The current urchins are lovely, just not life altering, which is what we ALL seem to be after, everytime we see a show.
Al D,
Are you joking about Heather Headley as Audrey? Because I have suggested it here and other boards and I get ripped a new one. I thought she would have been absolutely PERFECT in the role. A refreshing, thrillingly-sung and moving take. And I LOVE your suggestions for the urchins.

Stacy Francis was in Footloose, correct?
I'm not joking at ALL! Why NOT make the urchins the blue eyed soul diva's and Audrey, black? Besides, it IS Heather we're talking about. She would have been brilliant. All the vulerability that "you know who" lacks, she has in BUCKETS. Too bad the powers that be, aren't as creative and forward thinking as us lowly fans. Imagine the ENDLESS choices for the urchins, besides my personal fav's that I just mentioned. That could be a whole other thread unto itself.
Yes, Bway11, and Smokey Joe's cafe. Another Zaks production.
