Capathia Jenkins' has a great voice but I don't think it's the right sound for Effie. She sounds remarkably like Sharon Brown who played the role on tour. A tad bit shrill.

i smell a phony... if Fantasia Barrino was cast in any film - especially a musical like "Dreamgirls", American Idol would be making a very big deal about it... and they're not... so I just don't this info is accurate...

It sounds like it.

Besides, Effie is NOT is the background because of her size, it's because of her voice not sounding "white enough". It's a mistake that so many folks make.

Yes, I have seen a "skinny" Effie, it didn't change anything. But that's not the reason in the show that's she's put back there. Yes, Jennifer Holliday was large, so people keep thinking that.

She's lost all that weight now, but could STILL do the part.
