I have a pretty random question about the song Heavy (or is it called Heavy Heavy?) in Dreamgirls. In the concert recording, as well as the current touring revival that I saw a couple of weeks ago, during the second "performance" section of the song, Effie interrupts Deena by taking over and singing the lead. Browsing through the site that must not be named, I found an audio and a video clip from the original Broadway run, and it didn't appear that the song was performed in that way then. Was there another way that Effie interrupted the second performace? I would think that something had to have happened, otherwise Deena's lyric about "making all these scenes" wouldn't make a lot of sense. Sorry for the randomness, but I was just curious Dreamgirls question.

Dreamgirls has been through a lot of changes. I've seen it that Effie takes the lead and I've seen it that she just walks out.

In the movie, they do it both ways. Effie walks out of the TV studio in the middle of filming the "Heavy" video. Then, she takes the lead in the recording studio and walks out again. Drama queen...haha.
