I saw Drew and I didn't think he was all that bad. Not top notch, but he did a passable job. i also saw him on his second perfromance so I wasn't expecting WOW. The site is very misleading, there is a pop up thats says "Great Deal, see Drew Lachey for as low as $45" and underneath it says "For performances Jan 3-March 31 2005." It seems to imply Drew will be there through the 31st, but he wont.

I agree that Drew was rough around the edges for the first couple of weeks, but it seems that since Jeremy's last show, he's be so ON all the time.

JOHN LITHGOW I just realized, your last name is Butz! Both "Norbert" AND "Butz" are in your name! You must have gotten picked on a lot as a child!

I saw Drew his first week and maybe I'm not a tough enough critic or maybe it was because I'd only seen Rent once before and didn't have anyone to compare him with but I liked him (though it was the other cast members who really blew me away). Maybe it's not fair that he got cast without previous theatrical experience, but if he got people to see the show who wouldn't have otherwise (and it's been way up in attendance since he started, I believe) then it wasn't to the show's detriment that he was in it. Maybe it'll inspire him to do more theater (look at Deborah Gibson's post teen idol career). In the end, some hated him (though I believe those who did had some preconceived notion before attending) and some liked him, even a lot. All in all, not bad for a newbie's first time on Broadway. wow, I'd love to see Colin Hanlon in place of Drew. I think Drew's performance was flat, lifeless and forced. Not what I expect from Mark; Mark (IMHO) should be charming, geeky and warm-hearted. I didn't really feel that from Drew. Looking forward to Matt Caplan or whoever is taking over for Drew...

I saw RENT on January 16th and I felt that Drew did a fine job. I didn't particularly like the way he sounded during the spoken parts. He didn't enunciate enough. However, when he sang, he always sounded good and he was always on tune. I LOVED his Tango: Maureen.

I thought he was GREAT - certainly better than Matt Caplan and Joey Fatone.
