And the winner for most pointless thread goes too...
I didn't think Drew was awful, but I didn't like him.
I like Drew a lot, and I've seen a ton of Marks. Sadly, his last show is Sunday night.
no he was awful........ he had no energy which made the show falter right there
all I can say is he did better than I expected

You're so outraged that it took you months to express it? Drew leaves on Sunday. The world hasn't ended. The sky hasn't fallen. There are even lots of people who have enjoyed his performance. Get over it.

I'm outraged because he doesn't deserve to be in Rent and he especially doesn't deserve such a great role and thank goodness he's leaving.
I dont think its fair to judge his talent based on the fact that he is a former pop star. I mean I've never seen him perform as Mark so I couldn't say whether he was any good or not and its one thing to have seen him and disliked his performance but I don't think you can immediatly say he's horrible just because he was once a pop icon of sorts.
Well, you see, shakespeare. there's this thing called marketing. I'm not sure if you've heard of it, but apparently it's really big in New York, and it may have possibly even made it's way to Broadway recently. But I'm not sure about that...
For a marketing ploy I thought he did well enough.

Well, shakespeare...You'll have to get over it...
his last show is Sun
OMG
I am going to be in NYC sat thru wend and had plans to see him in it on like Mon or tues cant member right now
I thought his last day was March 31
switch your numbers around, karma -- 13th
DREW WAS ACTUALLY GOOD AS MARK. ITS UNFAIR TO JUDGE SOMEONE'S HABILITIES ON THEIR PAST WORK. JUST BECAUSE HE WAS IN A BOY BAND..IT DOESNT MEAN HE IS NOT TALENTED...AND HE DRAWS A LOT OF ATTENTION TO THE SHOW,BESIDES HE IS VERY NICE TO HIS FANS.

I thought he was a terrible mark. His acting was sometimes passable, but his voice was terrible. He could use some training... And he needs to learn how to project, enunciate, and play well off of others in high-intensity dialogue scenes.
He could have been worse, but he would have been barely good enough for a small, non-union, regional production of the show.
DREW IS A STAR...HE WONT DO A REGIONAL SHOW...WHEN HE CAN BE STARRING A BWAY SHOW. HELLO!
uh that changes my plans for the weekend now
I was there for the Sunday matinee when Drew left at intermission because he was sick. He sounded awful during the first act, and having seen him before, I knew he wasn't feeling well. Colin did a great job the second act.

muscle, my point was not that he should do a regional show, but that his talent was on the lower-side of the lowest professional tier. so while he might not have been totally terrible in everyway, he was certainly not up to par for the show.
See RENT for as low as $45* from January 3 through March 31, 2005!
that was copy pasted from the rent site
That's a discount. Did it say Drew's name? If so, it's wrong.

ok I have to ask...
I'm seeing Rent on saturday at the matinee and I wanted to know is Drew's last the 13th or tomorrow? I would soo much rather see Matt Caplan as Mark, or the understudy..or even Anthony if he'd come back for a day. My friend wants to see Drew, but I told her I wasn't sure if he was gonna be in it...
Drew's last is SUNDAY the 13th at 7pm.
Drew Lachey was certainly okay as Mark. He worked hard the night I saw him. But every time he spoke a line of dialogue his lack of training showed. So he was not entirely stage worthy, as they say. This worked for him in a curious way in that he seemed very much the outsider in the group - more than any Mark I've seen - and that had a poignancy that played well in the show.
But all of that said, give him credit for a creditable job in his theatrical debut.
