You can do a search on this board, because there have been many discussions on the cast and story over the last few weeks.
Or, click here for some good info...

I could not agree more.
The less you know, the better, and the more you will be surprised by the show.
re: Drowsey Chaperone Question#6
Posted: 2/15/06 at 2:15amI don't live in NY. I live in California so I probably won't get to see it unless it tours. I just got back from a week-long trip to NYC. I saw about 9 shows. It was great. But that's the extent of my on-Broadway experiences. I've seen numerous tours though, so hopefully DC goes on tour later. is it a new musical?

Drowsy. No "E".

triplethreat---thanks for blurting it out so eloquently. Guess you don't care how other people experience the show. You could have at least put SPOILERS in your post.
Real classy.
For those of you dying to know more about this show, I will tell you that it will lessen the impact of a first viewing if you know much about it. If you'd like to do that to yourselves, then by all means go ahead. I started a SPOILERS thread that brings up all sorts of details, opened wide for discussion. Dig in if you feel you must, but be prepared for "no surprises" then, when you see this show in NYC. And it's a musical filled with innovative, creative surprises. You'd be doing yourselves a disservice, IMO.

Yes, it will still be funny. I don't mean to imply that the show will be RUINED if you know the basic way its presented. But if you don't, it's that much more surprising.
This isn't a whodunit where if you know who the murderer is in advance, you've killed the show.
There are people on this board who have said that they liked the show better the second time, even though they already knew what was going to happen. To them, I say yes, that maybe true, however, you were also remembering how you felt seeing it cold the first time. That's part of a "second viewing" experience. Plus, you're seeing how others around you are reacting seeing it for the first time. If you never saw it "cold," the experience will likely be lessened initially... but not ruined.
There are many innovations within this show. Obviously in the first 10-20 minutes, you can figure out how the show is going to unfold for the evening. The basic "concept" is already known at that point. But the details and specific innovations of HOW it unfolds is part of the fun of the evening.
As far as "funny," this show is very funny... but there is SO much more to it than that. For die-hard theatre lovers, it's a very emotional experience by the time the show ends. It's deeply personal for those of us who love to sit around and talk passionately about our favorite shows. (Doesn't that pretty much mean EVERYONE who posts on BWW?)
I could say more, but I wouldn't feel good about it here. I left that for the "spoilers" thread.
EDIT: All I knew going in for my first time was that it was a '20s-style musical, it was supposed to be very funny, and everyone was raving about it. That's it. If this is all you know, it's enough. Go in with an open mind, and sit back and enjoy a very unique show.
