I love every single thing about it!! Hilarious! One of the few CDs I can listen straight through (overture and all) over and over again!
I got it this week. LOVE IT. I've not seen the show and totally understood it, thanks to the CD liner notes. The story about how it came to be is gr8 also.
The cast is fabulous. My faves are the usual suspects, but also Bob Martin & Georgia Engel. She sounds like she is right of that era. Kewl.
Hope it tours or comes back to the West Coast for a sit down in LA.

When taken out of the context of the show, and without the fantastic physical comedy, expressions, and interruptions by the MIC, the CD is very, very weak. You need Sutton's talents to enjoy "Show Off." You need Beth's facial expressions to appreciate "As We Stumble Along." You need to see the ridiculousness that is "Toledo Surprise." The show won Best Book, as it should have, but the CD alone -- aka, the score -- is just weak when compared to, say, The Wedding Singer, which definitely should have been the top contender.

I agree with the fun aspect. I like the idea of the show, it's pretty creative.
And of course Sutton Foster is fabulous.
The CD isn't as good as the show...listening to it makes me wish I were seeing it instead. But since I can't afford to see any shows for a little while the CD will have to suffice.
I'm just glad that there's one "WHAAAT?" on there...
