Im going to see The Drowsy Chaperone tonight. Anyone else going tonight? I cant wait!
Also, does Sutton come out and sign after Wednesday nights?
Thanks

Posted: 7/26/06 at 4:59pmI went on a Tuesday night a few weeks ago and Sutton didn't come out the stage door. Neither did Georgia Engel. Beth Leavel did and she couldn't have been nicer. Have fun at the show!

Posted: 7/26/06 at 10:59pmWell, I'm back and pretty disappointed----Beth Leavel was out (bronchitis)----I wasn't thrilled with her stand-in. The show was funny, Sutton was very good. The guy who played Adolpho is hysterical, but overall I was so down about missing Beth's performance. I almost left before it started but the manager couldn't guarantee which seats I would get---(we had 4th row center), so I decided to stay. Oh well.

Posted: 7/26/06 at 11:06pmBronchitis?! Ahh! Poor Beth, I hope she gets better soon...well, I admit for selfish reasons (I have tickets for the Saturday matinee) but I also hope she's not feeling too miserable. Is this a new development? Any word on when she could be back?

Beth may be a supporting player, but she seems to be the extra ingredient that puts it over the top. There was something to how she played the Chaperone that just seemed perfect. Her performance was in what many ways made the show memorable - along of course with "Adolpho".
At least that was my impression many moons ago when I saw it in LA.

I was also at Drowsy tonight in Row 2.
The show was terrific, and Bob Martin is totally natural.
I think that Beth Leavel must be needed. When she was the stand-by for Christine Ebersole in 42nd Street, she was terrible, but she seems to be truly needed to put this show over the top!

I hope she gets better.
Saw the matinee today and enjoyed it immensley.
I will probably go back to see Beth. Linda Griffin was on. She was good...but Danny Burstein really stole the show.
Also, I prefer Edward Hibbert to Noble Shropshire, who didn't seem to have the same chemistry with the always fantastic Georgia Engle.

ya.. I was upset that Beth was out tonight. The understudy was ok.
The show was awesome!!!
When did the playbills go black and white? Just wondering!!

Beth Leavel steals the show. It's still an amazing show, but I can imagine how, without her, it would feel like something was missing.
Go back again to see her. She's hysterical, and a really nice lady as well.

I won the Lottery on Wed. night and saw it from the first row! It was amazing again!! And Beth Leavel was in this time, and she was incredible compared to Linda Griffin.

"ell, she just has a supporting role. I don't know why you wouldn't enjoy the show just because she was out. Probably you just didn't like the show that much. IMO Sutton Foster and the girl that sings "I do..." are the standouts anyways. "
The girl that sings I do is Kecia Lewis Evans, firstly.Second of all, considering that Beth sings the theme of the show "As We stumble...", I'd say she's pretty intregal. I adore the show but Beth being out would be a total bummer for me as well!

---a bit off topic----
I've been arguing with a friend. we've seen drowsy's tony performance on the site-who-must-not-be-named.
and he's convinced the whole thing is pre-recoded. that sutton is not singing live.
i was appalled of the thought- but he was quite sure of himself.
does anyone have reliable information as to the probability of this? was she singing live or not?
thanks in advance
