I'm in Boston on business, and I caught The Drowsy Chaperone at the Boston Opera House last night. The show holds up very well, and while the leading ladies might not be up to the same level as Foster & Leavel, the show is still in fine shape. There have been some minor change, like Janet not disappearing through the floor in Show Off, but the show is mostly intact.
The very large theater was not sold out, but it was quite full. The audience enthusiastically enjoyed the show.

I saw it on Tuesday night (the first night in Boston) and it was great. Loved Man-in-Chair Jonathan Crombie.
I heard that last night the woman who plays Kitty (Marla Mindelle) was switched out half-way through the show and a stand-by or one of the swings finished the show. They made an announcement at the end of the show about it. I hope she's alright!

I'll be there tonight, and will have a review in by the end of the weekend. I'm psyched!
I'm sad to hear about Marla, I hope she's okay. I saw her last year in New Rep's production of Lippa's The Wild Party as Queenie. I didn't like her very much in that, but I can totally picture her as Queenie.

Posted: 4/25/08 at 5:02pmI saw it last night. While not as magical as the first time I saw it, I still loved it. I don't have a lot of time right now for a detailed review, but it was awesome. Definitely catch it if you can.

Thanks. Our dates are getting closer. One of my friends saw it in Chicago and she really enjoyed it. Now she wants to see more Musicals. My friend in Colorado is nervous because we suspect some cast changes may be coming up after the Summer? It seems they are hanging on until SF so thankfully, we will get to see this touring cast. After all of the good reviews, I'm really looking forward to this show.
I'll miss seeing Sutton again but I still believe Andrea's enthusiasm will please me just fine. The new backstage video from Chicago was very encouraging and now I at least have some souvenir of the show.
The video is posted with this article about the show. http://leisureblogs.chicagotribune.com/the_theater_loop/2008/04/at-some-point-i.html
August is a great time of year in San Francisco, so I'm really happy we have the extended dates out here. Oh wow, I am so looking forward to seeing this silly show again. The primaries are so boring and I need something to thrill me, just a little bit. We are getting Hairspray now too, so that will be a good warm-up.
