This habit of Pop Rock/Hit Song Musicals drive me crazy,I almost always forget Movin' Out is still playing an ex is in it!Oh, wait maybe that's why, but seriously there are at least TEN of these things in development!
BoxOfficeJon,I love the story about you being the princess:)))
and it was indeed reported on one of the entertainment shows the other night that Sir Elton is indeed working on a musical of the life of Freddy Mercury to star Eric McCormack:)
i guess it's kind of counter-intuitive: Elton's music sounds nothing like Queen's, and if you were going to do Mercury's musical bio, wouldn't you use his own music? what exactly would Elton do?
or maybe Mercury was not a composer, and his talent was in singing. But still the "sound" of Queen is associated with him. In general, it's a lot more driven hard-rocking sound than Elton John's. Though both had some ballads for variety. The jury's out...

Pop rock musicals are the best (don't get me wrong, I also love traditional)! I love Mamma Mia! and the other shows with hit songs. We Will Rock You seems to have a bad book. I am listening to the cast recording right now and I love the music and voices on it. Please tell me you guys who do not like WWRY only dislike the book...
Eric is great on W&G, but as Freddy Mercury??
Mercury wrote many of Queen's songs, although not all of them. All four members of the band were capable songwriters. Mercury tended to write on piano and a lot of the more clearly piano-based Queen songs were written by him.
