I don't think WICKED is rubbish. I actually enjoy it a lot.
lotiloti - Well as long as the show is making money to keep the productions open and keeping audiences happy and thrilled, then there's nothing wrong with the show then.
Regarding what one person said regarding Germans and singing.........well, to some exent that could be true. Meaning, many...more than many..... of the best "German" singers are not from Germany. The Late Steve Barton, Drew Sarich, Jesper Tyden, Leah Dela Santos, Ethan Freeman, Pia Douwes, and John Partridge and there are many more including the Elphabah are not from Germany but they are some of the German Musical Theater Stars. NONE of the actors who played Quasimodo (8 including covers) were from Germany.
But there are some German Germans such as Patrick Stanke, Jessica Kessler, Alex Melcher, Uwe Kroeger and some others who have fan clubs and would be considered the "German Musical Theater Stars".........................
Casting sometimes can be a problem, but for YEARS actors outside of German have been cast in shows there.....from just about every country, which is actually kinda nice having musical theater actors from around the world working together.
"So they're still inflicting this rubbish, on the rest of the world!"
For rubbish, it certainly has opened a world of interest in theater for countless young people all over the world, myself and many others on the boards included. Pretty impressive for rubbish, don't you think?

Even if the audience can't understand them.
