EQUUS

I'm surprised that it has never been revived on Broadway.

re: EQUUS

It's pretty dated. But there was talk about ten years ago of a revival with Anthony Hopkins.

re: EQUUS

Me, too. It's long overdue for a revival. Imagine the major actors who'd kill to play Dysart. And every actor under the age of 25 would want to take a crack at Strang.

Equus is such an incredible play. I really do feel that a revival could be great!

re: EQUUS

I saw a production of this and it terrified me. The bit where he stabs the horses was really frightening. They had a sound effect of horses screaming and projected images of horses stuck in mud and falling and rolling etc. It was manic, all the lights went out on the stage and everything and when they came back on the dr was sat holding alan and he was pouring with sweat. It was also the first time i'd ever seen full nudity on stage... was a monumental theatre experience.

EQUUS is being revived this summer up at the Berkshire Theatre Festival with Victor Slezak and Randy Harrison, as Dysart and Strang respectively. Looks really exciting...also in the cast are Pamela Payton-Wright as Dora and Roberta Maxwell as Hester (who played Jill in the original Broadway cast). I am so going up to see it.

re: EQUUS

Well, THAT's going to sell out in a hurry -- all the Queer As Folk fans will be lining up for the chance to watch Randy Harrison naked onstage in a relatively small theater!

re: EQUUS

I was just a production of "Equus" here in Chicago, and it's amazing how many younger actors have never seen a production of it. Our production got great reviews, although I do think the script is a bit creaky, especially the psychological aspects of it.

re: EQUUS

I totally agree WindyCityActor. I played Nugget and u/s Strang and I too was shocked at how many people were unaware of the show. Yes, it is very dated and I think it could be trimmed a bit as well. Let's face it, some of Dysart's psycho babble gets awfully mundane.
