Ouch. That was so uncomfortably stilted.

Well, we can hope for the best.

Go see the show. I don't know why these pictures and that video make this production so awful, but I've seen it twice and I've left the theatre both times emotionally drained and with tears in my eyes (and before any jokes are posted about how it's because they were so awful, NO that's not why).

Even if you think she's stiff in Act I and II (which she can be from time to time), she really shines in Act III. She's not at all bad. Definitely weaker than her co-stars (being onstage with Dianne, John, and Patrick is hard to rise above), but not by any means bad.

I totally agree with ColorTheHours. Give the show a chance because Lithgow, Wilson, and Wiest and fantastic. And as for Katie Holmes, she really wasn't all that bad. She certainly wasn't bad enough to detract at all from my enjoyment of the play. And I can't help thinking what people would be saying f it was anyone else playing the role. Sometimes I feel like people tend to make her performance sound so much worse just because she is Katie Holmes.

Anyways, all I can say is that you should definitely give it a chance because in my opinion is it a really great production.
