EVERYTHINGS COMING UP ROSES (LUPONE)

I'm not sure if and when Gypsy will be going on tour but...if it does and if Mrs. Peters wont play Mama Rose...how does this sound? How do you all think Patti LuPone would be as Mama Rose. She hasn't done much lately and I think it's a great role for her. I was hoping if Gypsy ran longer on Broadway Patti could take over Mrs. Peters (who I thought was wonderful as well). Dont kill me if you think this is a bad idea. First just think about her powerful voice. She sounds similar to Ethel Merman don't you think (the original Rose) and Patti has never played the part. She is also a great actress and it would be a great way to sell tickets too I think. Just tell me what you think :)

I think Patti LuPone would make a wonderful Mama Rose. However, I don't think she's interested in touring at this moment in her life.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

Yeah I know it would pbly never happen. I even just thought she'd be great on a recording of the show. JW, did something bad happen to her or she just wouldnt be up to it because she's just not in the mood?

Patti is TOURING right now with her solo concert. So she is touring at this stage in her life.

This is old news, but because Patti pulled out of Arthur Laurents' play, Jolson Sings Again, he's had issues with her, and I don't think he will let her play Rose in a first class production.

Yes sfs, you are correct. My mistake. I was basing my information on something she said at Encores and that was that she was going to work on another tv series.

Magruder is right. As long as Arthur Laurents is alive, Lupone won't be playing Rose in a major production.

There's a lot of things LuPone won't be doing while a lot of people are still alive.

She was in Noises Off not all that long ago...and the weakest link in that cast...in my teeny tiny opinion. She can't really sing so well anymore...I'm sure many will disagree and that's fine...but...I don't think she would be able to handle a 8 performances a week musical role...and I think she knows it...or is at least afraid of the possibility. That said. Her performances in the Sondheim concerts out here in Chicago have been quite nice.
