So I went to a special preview for the shows coming to the Wharton Center next year and they are as follows:

High School Musical On Stage (unfortunately...ugh)! Oct. 2-7, 2007
Lerner & Loewe's Camelot Oct 30-Nov 4, 2007
Spamalot Dec. 4-9, 2007
Spelling Bee Jan. 8-13, 2008
Avenue Q April 15-20, 2008
and Riverdance as a special event April 4-6, 2008

I don't know who lives in the area but I think this is an okay season...We always get stuff the second time around but I'm pretty excited about Avenue Q!

That's a nice lineup. It's interesting scheduling, having Camelot and then Spamalot.

Eh, it's an ok season. I think the only two I'd go see would be Camelot and Avenue Q. The other shows are just ok to me.

What are the MSU theatre dept. offerings, if any? I thought they usually did at least one big musical a year.

This isn't NEARLY as good as I had hoped! I'm excited for Avenue Q, but what about The Drowsy Chaperone, My Fair Lady, The Wedding Singer? Hopefully more shows will be added as special events...

Wow, I am really amazed by this. We never get anything the first time around! I'm excited to see Q and Bee again, although I've already seen them on Broadway.

I am a little disappointed about Drowsy as well, but can't complain!

GAH! Sweeney needs to get somewhere near to Toledo... I have to see that!

Closer than Columbus, that is... but hey, i'll find a way to see Sweeney if its the last thing I do!

I forgot about Sweeney! I already plan to drive to Columbus to see The Wedding Singer.

Also Spelling Bee and Camelot (as well as High School Musical) are already coming to Detroit, and Spamalot and Riverdance came to Detroit last season. I was hoping for a little variety!

The COMPLETE new season is now up at http://www.whartoncenter.com/ .

EDIT: I'm so happy to see that they don't consider "Cirque Dreams" or "The Rat Pack Live" Broadway shows! Of course they consider "High School Musical" Broadway, so I guess they're not that great.
