Rent - very easy. Eh...not so much, although of course it depends on when you go. Two weeks ago I went to a Saturday matinee and a Wednesday matinee within a few days of each other. The Wednesday matinee was indeed pretty easy--a crowd of maybe 45 (for 34 seats), so the odds are definitely in your favor at those shows. However, I'd say there were easily 75-80 people for the Saturday matinee, maybe more, and of course you're always competing with more people than you actually see in the crowd, so I'd say I was up against 100+ people for that lotto.
So yeah, it can be pretty easy at shows like Wednesday matinees, but they still have a pretty big turnout for more popular showtimes.
