^That was cute. No.
"Timothy- I think he's definitely the weakest Dr. Dillamond."
Because there is just so much to the character to work with. He's probably overwhelmed.

Posted: 10/30/06 at 11:02pmI thought Hilty and Bean were a perfect pair for the LA bow. Anybody here know why Eden was selected instead of Shoshana?

Posted: 10/31/06 at 1:28amYeah I originally thought Sho and Megan would do LA since they brought them both to the tour...... but I'm cool with Eden, I've never seen her and I just saw Sho and Megan. I must say, give Megan another chance as G(a)linda, I *saw* performances from the Gershwin days and totally thought she was not so great, but her performance is SOOO much better now that she's come back to it. And as for them moving on, I agree, I'd love to see Megan do something else, but it's a job and she's probably getting paid very well to do it (Idina in London: $30,000 a week!) so i see no reason why she'd turn it down.

Personally i'm not a huge fan of Eden, as other posters have said she over riffs on occasions and over emphasises some words (big example is her Wizard and I).
Surely though, three of these leads with have now been in three different productions of the same show...isn't it time they got some new people in?
I'm just echoing other people's comments here but (against better judgement) I like this show and would like to see some new people in it.
Roll on Janurary and a new Elphaba in the London production.

Okay, reality check here - with all the complaints about recycling Elphabas - I bet there are very few, if any of you who have actually *seen live* every actress who has played the role up till now. The desire to hear and see new people sing these songs, is methinks, something of a byproduct of youtube making spoiled Broadway children of you all....
The casting of Elphaba recalls the casting of the title role in the original productions of EVITA: between Broadway and all the tours, there were still only about ten actresses that played the part = simply moving from company to company. You don't take chances with these roles. When you find people able to sustain performances in vocally taxing parts for weeks on end - you keep them.

"A cast advertised as "Direct From Broadway" sells tickets. "
But only Carol Kane and Jenna Leigh Green are "Direct from Broadway." Eden's not in the show anymore (although at least the last performance she did as Elphaba was ON Broadway) and Meg Hilty is on the tour right now, so she is "direct from the national tour." Kusick comes "directly from the Chicago production." I think the "direct from Broadway" tagline is getting much more credit than it deserves. With the exception of Carol Kane, no one in the cast is even remotely known to people, and as long as they are good in their respective roles, people will be satisfied.

Posted: 10/31/06 at 11:47amI'm sure if they try to use that kind of angle at all, they will simply say "we've assembled the very best from each of the WICKED companies around the country for L.A." Something like that.

I would agree that that would be the angle to go for...
Although technically not 'direct' from Broadway, they have all played their part there.

Michael Bennett is absolutely correct (as usual). Who cares anyway if they "recycle" the actors in Wicked? The majority of people who are seeing Wicked are going for the first time, and have no idea who they are seeing or that they have been recycled. For those of you complaining about it, would you actually buy a ticket and fly to LA, or Chicago, or somewhere on the tour if a new cast was announced? Probably not.

Actually, the truth is there's probably many that are going to do just that anyway - even with the 'recycled' actors (who on earth is responsible for that ridiculous moniker?)

Oh, don't forget Japan!
I thought Eden was better than Idina when I saw her cover Idina in 2004 w/ Kristin.
I saw that Adam Wylie was Boq. s he the one from the revival of Into The Woods? If so, I have two words for you: fresh meat!
Also, Ben Vereen should play The Wizard.
