If you ever read the notes from Andrew Lloyd Webber on the original Starlight Express CD ( I think it was just the song selections and not the whole show ) it mentions El DeBarge, who sings Papa, has a unique ability to sing more than one note at a time.
I have never heard of such a talent. Is this something that some people can do? Curious to know.
...or maybe I am remembering it incorrectly.

Actually it is about Richie Havens who has the ability.. not El Debarge.....

So is this a common talent? How does it work?

Posted: 10/9/08 at 6:44pmIt's called overtone singing or throat singing. Anyone could learn to do it, but it can be damaging to the vocal chords (it dries them out).
