I was listening to Mary Poppins and I realized that he is one of the most ecstatic actors i have ever saw. I really hope great things come his way. What is your opinion on his "possible" nomination?
He has the best chance of any in that cast. HIs chances are greater than Brown's, but since her chances of a nom are zero, that's not saying too much.

Go see "Company?"
B3TA, I was thinking the exact same thing. From everything I've heard Gavin Lee sounds like a great performer, but I don't think anyone can hold a candle to Esparza in Company this year. Also, were there talks of Bert being a supporting role? I don't know.
I think his chances of a nomination are good, but I think he'll be shut out by Raul Esparza. And we still don't know about David Hyde Pierce or Michael Cerveris, two very strong possibilities.

He'll definately be nominated. As will David Hyde Pierce, Raul Esparza, Michael Cerveris, and most likely Martin Short. Raul will win (the reviews were glowing), yet all are extremely strong, just like the female nominees.
Who?
As far as a possible nomination, it sounds like he has a chance. But your title asks about winning. What is there to elaborate about "no"?

yeah, um, I havn't actually seen company (YET), but I firmly believe Raul deserves the tony just on all the OTHER stuff he's done, let alone the fact that I dont think I've really heard a single bad thing about him in company! ok, maaaybe a couple people have said not so stellar things, but that vast majority seem to agree he's brilliant. And so yeah. Raul all the way :)
I'm sure Gavin's great and all, but no. And if NOT raul, my runner up would be Jon Groff for SA, but even Jon, whom I adore, I do not think deserves to win over Raul.
sorry, I kind of didn't really answer the question I dont think. lol. Basically, I dont think Gavin should win a tony because its a super tough year this year in the leading male catagory.
Rath: He's that guy who tap dances upside down on the proscenium of the New Amsterdam Theatre.
He def won't win. It is a slow year for men though, so a nom is quite likely.
Yeah, seems much slower for men than woman. What about Brian d'Arcy James? Any chance of a nomination? I thought he was the best part of The Apple Tree.
Gumbo2, the latest Tony Committee report established that Gavin Lee will be considered for the Best Leading Actor in a Musical category.
I still don't think Esparza is a lock, I believe it'll come down to David Hyde Pierce and Raul Esparza, with Lee being the dark horse.
Thanks for the clarification, ray.
I forgot about DHP, but he's really gonna need to do something special to beat Esparza, in my opinion.
He's more famous -- a bigger star. To some, that's special enough. (Ugh.)
Oh, he does. I am seeing Esparza next week for the first time so I can't really compare. I saw Hyde Pierce in LA and he was brilliant though.
Oh dear - we're not playing The Tonys Are About Quality and Nothing But game again this year, are we? It's really boring and futile.
i hope he gets a nomination...he was amazing

I think he should win. I honestly don't think he wil, but I want him too.
Rath, I love your avatar of Julie. She's such a classy lady.

So far I would vote for him, (Gavin) but there are other performances to see before anyone has a "lock" in this category.
