Elaine Stritch on ELLEN NOW!

Turn on ELLEN, she's about to interview Elaine Stritch!
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I'm taping it, but she is interviewing Jon Stewart now.

Elaine Stritch wasn't listed in the ELLEN newsletter. Maybe she was an add-on. She opened with the two "Reality" people from the Emmys.

Yes, it's an add-on. Here is info from her website:

The hilarious JON STEWART of the Emmy Award winning “The Daily Show” stops by. ELAINE STRITCH chats with Ellen about winning an Emmy for her special "Elaine Stritch: At Liberty." Plus, OLIVER HUDSON talks about his new show, “The Mountain,” and growing up in Hollywood.

Great interview -- that much the better, because it wasn't an interview pers se--or booked way in advance. I love Ellen's show, but I hope she does more of these last minute add-ons. It was so filled with unpredictable Stritch energy. It's refreshing to see someone who isn't pushing a book, movie, show -- just someone who's lived, truly and is here to tell about it.

So glad I recorded this. I need to buy her LIBERTY DVD.
