Hey guys! Wow. What a show. I'll get to my emotional feelings later, but for now, here's the review. To make a quick summary, the acting was incredible, the singing was out of this world, and the dancing...holy moly. Here's who was out: Vicki, Butch, Tricia, and Cassie (Nadine Isenegger was in the role. People around me were extremely upset) Anyways, I may skip a few people here, let me know if you wanted anyone else specific:
Michael Berresse (Zach)-Great. Perfect acting, the whole Cassie/Zach love thingy was so well done.
Natalie Cortez (Diana)-Hmmm. Well, acting=amazing, singing was lovely, but she did sound like a cold was coming on. Raspy, and really trying to reach the high notes in What I Did For Love.
Nadine Isenegger (Cassie)-I mean, I haven't seen Charlotte, so I don't know what to compare her to, if anything. She was really good. Singing=eh. Didn't look happy, but who would be if the people in the audience are complaining about you being there. But heck, whatever. I liked her, I guess.
Mara Davi (Maggie)-What. A. Voice. My mom's favorite girl lead. She sang the hell out of her solo in At The Ballet. Loved her.
Jessica Lee Goldyn (Val)-Really funny, and great acting. My mom didn't like her voice, but I thought it was pretty good. You could tell she loved the part, and she went wild with her song.
Deidre Goodwin (Sheila)-I really, really liked the acting and dancing here. I don't want to get in trouble if you guys liked her singing, but I didn't so much. At The Ballet sounded like she was talking more than singing, and when she did sing it wasn't the best. But besides that, everything else was great.
Heather Parcells (Judy)-Sweetheart at the stage door (we didn't techinically stage door, but we saw all of them come out. Heather was the sweetest). Anyhoo, very good, and funny. Not a huge part, but I liked what she did with it.
Michael Paternostro (Greg)-Hilarious. His acting was incredible, and great dancing.
Alisan Porter (Bebe)-Very cool that her mom was the orignal Bebe. That's awesome. But as for Alisan, I loved her. Singing was beautiful, and she can certainly act. Once again, not a huge part, but she had fun with it.
Yuka Takara (Connie)-Very cute part. Not much to say, but she's a great dancer.
Jason Tam (Paul)-My favorite guy part! What talent! That monologue...every word he said sounded like he was saying it for the first time, as if it was coming from his heart. I cried like a baby during it. Wow. I adore this man :)
Well, that's about it. I know I'm missing Tony Yazbeck (I think you guys like him, right?) but I got him mixed up with two other guys, so I'm a bit confused on that topic. But I'm sure he was great So. What a night. I'm emotionally changed. I mean, even as a young actress, I understood their words. I came out of that theater touched, crying (a lot), and proud to be a hopeful actor. I recommend this show to all of you if you haven't seen it already. It was my first time, and it won't be my last. Hope you liked my review. I'm seeing Les Miz on Friday, so you won't be able to get rid of me yet. Good night!
Alisan Porter's mom was not the original Bebe, but she played the role on tour.
Isn't it weird that Alisan Porter was Curly Sue!

Weird. I kinda wish I didn't know that.

Oh, okay! Got it.
Sheila doesn't really sing that much during At the Ballet, most of it is spoken usually.
Look at the new cast recording, it's more speak sing than anything else.
Cassie isn't supposed to look all that happy. She's supposed to be begging this man for a job, not smiling and doing jazz hands. That's one thing I don't like about this Chorus Line revival, they look too happy. Isn't this supposed to be a tough, emotionally and physically painful audition?
I'm sorry you missed Charlotte She has been having trouble her left foot; she was absolutly amazing when I saw her on Oct 26th; I love the Cassie/Zach love story, too
VERY interesting to hear the audience was sad she was out. Shows they wanted to see her
But I'm glad you enjoyed the show regardless
Nadine Isenegger played Peggy Sawyer in "42nd Street" forever. Needless to say she's a superb dancer and a great talent. They're lucky to have her as an understudy.
I'm a big fan of Nadine as well, and I'm glad to hear she's understudying Cassie. I know that as a singer, she has some support issues when she's mix-belting, so I can understand the singing=eh comment, but I'll bet she danced the hell out of the role.
