Posted: 6/19/07 at 2:04pmI heard that they posted closing notice. I didn't think that it had opened yet but maybe I'm wrong. Anyone know anything about it?

Posted: 6/19/07 at 2:33pmIt was the worst vanity production I have seen in years. Awful, painful to sit through. One hour, 45 minutes of my time wasted. The theater was noticeably empty after intermission. Applause at curtain call was polite at best, yet one man in an aisle seat was inexplicably screaming and standing during curtain call (probably the father of one of the actors.) Be very grateful if you can get your money back for this "production". I don't know how it lasted more than 1 performance.

Posted: 6/19/07 at 2:50pmTelecharge even said there was an intermission last week. Don't know why they needed an intermission, since the entire show was over by 9:45. I think the intermission will remain. A bunch of skits about Elvis, maybe about 10 skits in total. Very unfunny. Why vanity productions like this continue to get produced, really astounds me. I guess they figured they'd cut their losses now and just close in previews. That's really saying something about how even THEY feel about the show.

Posted: 6/19/07 at 3:12pmOh, I wasn't angry or anxious ... Just concerned because the same thing happened to me with CORAM BOY. I bought the tix MONTHS in advance (GREAT seats, mind you) and I got an email saying "Sorry, show's closing." I don't want it to happen again 'cause it's part of a Father's Day gift.

Elvis People to Close June 23
Elvis People, the Off-Broadway play at New World Stages/Stage 1, has announced it will close June 23 "barring a marked change in sales."
Doug Grissom's play began previews June 6 and officially opened June 21. Should it close June 23, the production will have played four performances and 20 previews.

Dammit.
Upon receiving the tickets in the mail ('cause they were supposedly 'sent' yesterday) should I return them for a refund, or something?

Has even one show that has opened at Dodger/New World Stages since its inception ever made money?
It's one flop after another.

Yeah, but it still hasn't made its initial investment back.
Edit: Elphie beat me to it.

Posted: 6/19/07 at 3:50pmAltar Boyz runs on a week to week budget. I remember Davenport saying that once it begins to lose money it will close. Right now its breaking even.
