Just an FYI...
Following a few incidents of rather unbecoming audience behavior (as listed in Testing and Ed's posts above), the powers that be at "Rock of Ages" have added several measures to ensure that these incidents, if not eliminated completely, are severely curtailed.
This includes security inside the theater itself during the show, in constant contact with each other and the management, and pre-show "briefings" from security to those people in the front sections (sad that people need little reminders not to put their drinks on the stage, get up on the stage, over-interact with cast members to the point of disruption of the show...but better to err on the side of caution, though).
So far, since these new measures were taken, while audiences are still vocal and enthusiastic, the negatively-tinged rowdiness has abated somewhat.
Now, back to your regularly scheduled program...LOL

Dunno how much I get to talk, as an "annoying pink sparkly" fan of Legally Blonde (though I guess pink and sparkly and blonde are better qualifiers than words that could be used to describe some other fanbases...), but!
In the Heights fans made me never want to see the show again, even though I loved it. I didn't want to be around the lottery or be around those crazy, creepy people.
I think some of WICKEDs fans are a little ridiculous and make it hard for other people to enjoy the show. Also, the people who think they are "friends" with the actors, simply because they have seen the show 83 times. I LOVE the show, but I don't go overboard.

I'm sure Stephanie J Block can relate to this.

I've never felt the need to be embarrassed that I'm a fan of a show, because I'm not crazy at stagedoor/lottery/rush/during the show. I'm a normal audience member. When I say I'm a fan people can think what they want, but that doesn't make me one of the "crazies"
13 fans on the site annoy the heck out of me. Same with some of the people on elleslounge...

Sadly, these measures have not helped at all !!!
Just got back from the show with a co-worker, and his wife.
The show... yes, it's very good, and they enjoyed it.
However, I am not joking when I say that what I witnessed tonight at the show was absolutely disgusting and embarrassing.
(for the cast, as well as the people TRYING to enjoy the performance)
It was the equivalent of being at the strip club, and/or a rowdy bar !!! People were screaming (I guess it was their form of interaction) at the cast all night. During "Here I Go Again", some moron decided to yell out "Your body is too fat" to Kelli Barrett.
Men were screaming "take it off" all night.
This one woman was totally smashed, and screaming all night long. She basically yelled out to every male cast member that she wanted them. FINALLY, when the show was almost over, one of the ushers warned her about her behavior.
You can put as much security as you want in that theatre. As long as people are having too much to drink, (because the alcohol is too accessible) you are going to have problems.
Have we mentioned The Wedding Singer? Because those fans totally freaked me out. When i saw the show there were a whole bunch of crazy girls talking about the show like they were best friends with everyone in it. And the whole dressing up thing? I wanted to smack them all. The girls sitting by me were so obnoxious and would freak at every little thing. Aside from the fact that i hated the show, i probably hated it even more because of the people sitting around me.
I was scowled at often by some intense Sweet Charity revival fans for not applauding or laughing once during the show.
@Wicked
Everytime Elphaba moved someone screamed and people kept getting up every 5 minutes.
@RENT
they laughed at things that were not intended to be funny. the applause at random times gave me a headache and the screaming as if they were at a rock concert! I was ready to kill.
This was after Adam and Anthony's run was over too!

Dumb question - since I know so little about ROCK OF AGES, what is it that is getting everyone so uninhibited?
Alky-hol.
WAYYYY too much alcohol-- way too accessible.
And they need to start kicking people out of the theatre if they are acting like morons !

Legally Blonde fans were scary...and boy did they start a lot of drama...
The obnoxious middle school girls who think they know everything theatrical because 'they saw the Wicked tour and know every single word to Popular' totally ruined the show for me.
