There have been productions with female Emcees. I haven't really decided how I feel about it, honestly. I mean, I guess it works because the character is all about ambiguity anyway.
Search for "Cabaret: A Discussion." There's some stuff about this there, but the other topics about it... I have no idea where they are.

Posted: 8/2/05 at 1:02pmI don't care for the idea at all. I'm not saying that it couldn't work but I think it works with a man. It is definitely a very interesting choice that is for sure. I think a lot would be lost having a female playing The Master of Ceremonies.
