Emily Skinner

Does anyone know where Emily Skinner is going? I saw her in On the Record on Friday.. She was amazing.. I just don't know where she's going.. any ideas??

Emily isn't dumb, that's why she left. Hopefully she has something bright on the horizon. Maybe she needed the cash for Christmas presents? hehe.

Im SOO angry...i went to see On the Record and Emily wasn't there-and the understudy went flat A LOT! I think it was before she said she was leaving too...and I noticed her understudy is taking over for good becuase she SUCKS...sorry had to vent

That was a little uncalled for.. Emily is amazing.. Even though she wasn't featured as much as she should have been.. She still was awesome.. I hope she is moving to something better.. I was really glad I got to see her on Friday.. The show was way too much Disney, but Emily was awesome.. !!!

I think discussion about her attendance is pretty tired. It's *her* career that is the question at hand here, and those are HER decisions to make and her consequences to deal with. I know it's disappointing when you enter the theatre and see that little sign with her understudy's name on it, but... you go with the knowledge that you might not see her and if she's there, great, if not... try to exchange the ticket or enjoy the show.

I can understand why her fans would worry because she IS so talented and no one wants to see her "fail", as it were. But, as I said before, if her decisions are valid enough for HER then the rest of us should respect that and not shake fingers. It's her life, not ours. :)


I'm still incredibly turned off by the distasteful comment above, so, Emily if you're reading... you're beautiful. Love you. :)

Wait, who do you want to strangle? Surely not I. Look, I think it's for her own good that some of us are "put off" by her spotty attendance record. It will eventually catch up with her. And no one wants that. We also can't honestly say that it's only been during this (from all your reviews), crappy show,that she's had attendance issues during, she was absent a great deal while doing Full Monty too, no?

TheatreDude, buddy, it's all good. Mocking her weight is never funny, though. Always keep in mind that those kind of comments will get back to her and that can be very hurtful, y'know?

As far as her attendance goes, Al, I so won't CONDONE it or excuse it. I think we should all just stop WORRYING about it, because in the end SHE is the one that has to deal with the consequences, not us. You're certainly correct, though. She has a reputation for missing. Missed quite a few Side Show performances, I know she was out a bit in The Dead... Full Monty was probably the worst. She missed a lot of Albertine. I do worry she wears herself out, though. She tries to do too many things at once. It's all about balance, but I can't judge because I've yet to conquer that myself.

I think we should just let her deal with her own consequences and not judge in the meantime.

Emily's absences in "Side Show" were due to a blood vessel bursting in her throat. It was beyond her control. It's not like she partied a bit too hard the night before and decided to blow off the matinee. I saw the show six times, and she and Alice were always there. Besides, without her absences, we may never have discovered Lauren Kennedy. I'm listening to "Side Show" right now. God, it's good!

BTW, does anybody know where I can get a copy of Emily singing "There's a Place Called Home" from the original "Christmas Carol"? The OBC is out of print, and the cheapest used copy on Amazon is $55.

Skinner's reported absence ratio is a valid topic for discussion, I suppose. But I'm sad to see comments about her weight, as if that had anything to do with the quality of performer she is.

And she always have the growl.

On the Record was simply insipid, and I am sure that she is a lovely person, but she did look out of place and out of sync.
