I think she'll be killer in the part. She'll sing the hell out of those songs, she has great style, and she's funny as hell.
Yay! This makes me so happy. I just hope that the director doesn't screw it up.
Patti D'Beck is directing. She has some awesome Broadway credits so I'll bet she will do a good job with it.

For a moment I confused her with her Side Show costar, Alice Ripley (yes I still do that) and I thought WOW, I AM THERE! This, though I love me some Skinner, is a little more rote casting...
Is she playing Vera or Mame? I'm planning on seeing this when I go to DC for Little Dancer, excited either way!
She's playing Mame.
Because the title of the thread says Emily Skinner as Mame.

She'll be amazing, wish she could tour with that show
She looks SO. GOOD.
She looks more like Belle Poitrine than Mame Dennis Burnside in those pics.
Come to think of it, Belle Poitrine would be a better fit for her.
I would love to see her in that too

Saw the production last night and can assuredly report that Ms. Skinner is an absolute triumph in the role of "Mame." Looking like a million bucks in breathtaking costumes, and in excellent voice, her performance is truly outstanding. If the show ever came back to Broadway, she'd be an incredible choice for the part. It was a total thrill to see her live, and having the best time. If you can make it to Richmond, VA, it is worth it to see her in this production.
She reminds me so much of Rosalind Russell in those costumes. I bet she's fantastic in the part.
I don't see Russell, but instead a very strong Janis Paige vibe. And Paige played the role. Google her, you'll see.
