Johansson would be so much better than Hathaway. She'd be able to use her sex appeal to connect to the decadence of the time period, her "Don't Tell Mama" and "Mein Herr" would be so sexy but also dark, and her smoky voice would add something interesting.

"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

I think Sally needs to be a diva and I wouldn't call most of today's hollywood starlets, divas.

I honestly have no idea what this means.

When you think of today's respected Hollywood leading ladies, they're mostly serious actresses like Jessica Chastain, Michelle Williams, Jenifer Lawrence... Don't get me wrong they're all beautiful and brilliant actresses but they lack star quality when they're not on screen. Sadly, today we don't have glamorous stars like Marylin, Liza, Barbra or Marlene.

Edit: With the exception of some like Charlize Theron and Zeta Jones.

I'm not sure I'll take the word of someone who thinks Sally is American, and the character is 19 in the Isherwood.
