Entertainment Weekly Predicts Tony Winners
re: Entertainment Weekly Predicts Tony Winners#25
Posted: 6/5/07 at 5:23pmI agree with pretty much all of the predictions except I think Orfeh could steal it and I am not sure if Bill T. Jones' choreography, no matte how innovate, will take it.

Posted: 6/5/07 at 6:09pmI don't see how Bill T. Jones choreography is innovative at all.

Posted: 6/5/07 at 6:44pmDid I read the article wrong or is the author an actual Tony voter? This definitely gives the predictions some validity. They sounded pretty much right on the money. I'm hoping Pittu wins over Gallagher though.

Posted: 6/5/07 at 9:52pmI'd like to see Kander & Ebb take Best Original Score. I think that Curtains is some of their best work musically.

I really wish F/N would win...

EW's predictions are almost exactly the same as my own, with 2 exceptions: The Coast Of Utopia will win best play; and the much harder to predict orchestrations award. I would say based on merit Jonathon Tunick, but he has 2 nominations that are equally deserving - so I'm predicting he'll win for LoveMusik, but I could make a case for any of the 4 nominees this year...
I hope Martha Plimpton wins - could she and Jennifer Ehle cancel each other out? I suspect they will be the 2 top vote getters in the category. I'd be happy for Xanthe Elbrick, but I'm still predicting Martha.
And the more I've thought about it, Hugh Dancy really deserved at least a nomination, I'd have voted for him, for Journey's End..

EW has a bunch of coverage on the Tonys, including "Send Their Regards to Broadway", about A-list movie stars on the stage, and "A Toast to the Tonys" about past Tony Award coverage.
