re: Equity

Canadian version of Equity... apparently, if you have one, you are considered to be in the other union as well... or so I heard tell from an ACTRA card holder...

re: Equity

a lil off topic:

there is a radio commercial about Paying your bills online.

a- I tried to pay my bills online
b- To pay your bills online, you need to be registered
a- how do i register?
b- by paying your bills online

*When I heard this commercial, It reminded me about Equity*

re: Equity

I really don't see Equity as being anywhere near the Catch 22 that others do. You either earn points or get hired in an Equity role. Maybe it's more a Catch 22 if you are in NYC--I dunno. But regionally, it's as simple as I experienced.

re: Equity

jrb - I think the catch 22 is mostly for the New Yorkers - getting the card isn't that difficult - but getting work once you have one can be very hard if you don't have a lot of experience or the proper credits on your resume, and you're in a city with a huge stockpile of equity performers to choose from. I've considered giving up my card, because work was so much easier to find before I got it. I haven't benifited that much from it. (except for the 10% discount at the Renaissance diner!)
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

damn! I didn't know about that discount! I eat there all the time!!

Houston was a great place to earn the card before moving to NYC. But, Houston is not a great place to be Equity.

re: Equity

I've always heard the Canadian union simply called "Canadian Equity".

Are you also considered a member of British Equity?

I have never truly understood the connections - political, governmental, and otherwise - between Canada and England.
I'd fire you... if you weren't so g*dd*mn beautiful out there. - Blades of Glory blog

re: Equity

Canada used to be land that belonged to England... while they became independant in the 80s, they still consider themselves somewhat a "child" of England. The queen is still a promenant figure to them, whether or not they have anything to do with the country in their government anymore.

re: Equity

Some performers get lucky and get cast from an open call, like Keala Settle.
