Does anyone know how long Raul Esparza is contracted to be with Chitty? I am seeing this show again soon and I would be crushed to miss him in it.
Also, how is he at the stage door? Does he come out at all? And is he friendly when he does?
Thanks.

As for your first question, I'd like to know the same. Haven't heard anything yet, though. The show's only been open like four months, so I doubt if you're going "soon," you'll have anything to worry about unless he's sick.
As for the stage door, he hasn't been coming out much lately, if at all, with a few "theories" pending. If you get lucky, though, he's extremely friendly. He's one of the sweetest, most wonderful people I've ever, ever met.
Good luck!

I'm sad that he hasn't been signing lately. Understandable, just sad.

Posted: 7/26/05 at 9:13pmI saw the show on Saturday night (It's 100th performance) and he came out. He recognized me from being in the front row. We even got a picture together. He was very, very nice.

I KNEW IT! I saw the show that night, and figured it wasn't even worth trying my luck. As I was leaving, I was like "you know, the one night I decide not to wait, he'll come out."
Damn you, Raúl! (And I mean that with love.)
zepka! I'm going to beat the crap out of you!! And no, next Tuesday night.

Aww. That was my first time seeing the show. So I had no idea if he would come out or not. I was happy that he did.
I actually saw he and his wife at Applebees a few days later. That was weird...

Well then I'm going to beat the crap out of THEM!
Maybe he'll start coming out again. I've been wanting to ask him something for months, and I always get too shy.
If anyone goes within the next few days, let me know.

Posted: 7/26/05 at 9:24pmI saw the show on Friday night and was saddened as other cast members told me that he usually doesn't come out, however just to the left of the stage door... there is another door! I know not surprising except that I noticed a Limo pull up in front of it. I waited and saw Raul dash to the limo. My friends and I approached the limo and my one friend knows him so he stopped the car and actually signed autographs for us and we got a picture. He said that he was really glad that we stopped his car. Perhaps the reason for his recent sightings at the stage door on Saturday! Maybe he realized that he needs to be more caring of his fans who pay large amounts of money to support him! Either way its a great story.

Thanks for all the help!
And how exciting that you saw he and his wife together. I've heard they are having tough times. Who knows. It's probably just a rumor.

It's probably just a rumor.
And that's why we're not going to talk about it. It isn't nice to spread rumours.

And Applebee's has good fettucini.
I was only half kidding about that.

is it because he feels shame to star in this bland show and don't want to put his name on the playbill forever?
I am sorry, Emcee. It is a bad joke, I know.

Oh, Emcee.
I didn't know you fancy New Yorkers went to Applebees. I thought that was a suburban midwesterner thing.

Since you've seen it so much, maybe you can answer another question for me -
Is Raul out a lot? I wouldn't want to see an understudy for him...
