Any thoughts on this production?

I've recently collected the original cast recording, the NYCO cast recording and the 1997 Revival and I've read up a lot on the various incarnations the show has gone through, including the indcredibly badly-plotted 1999 RNT production in England.

I haven't been able to find a decent plot summary or song list of this new version of the show anywhere. Does anyone know any of this information? From the videos I've seen so far it seems like a very daring production, although I'm not sure whether I feel like the new imposed concept weakens the plot of the original story.

Buy the Scottish Opera recording.

Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

My next two finds are the SOR and the '99 RNT version just because of how starkly different they are from the other incarnations. I could have gotten the original Hal Prince version but I would rather die than hear that score so dwindled.

Are you referring to the Robert Carson production that recently played the ENO in London? If so, it's sensational - very funny and smart and with a few songs I've never heard before. Unfortunately there was no song list in the programme so I can't enlighten you in detail. It's set in the USA and takes many shots at political and economic targets here, which may be why it has yet to play in North America.

Faced with these Loreleis, what man can moralize!

The "indcredibly badly-plotted 1999 RNT production" moved at a much faster pace then the recent ENO production, which managed to be both brilliant and boring. There are threads about it on the West End board.
