Posted: 4/22/07 at 2:04amIsn't there supposed to be a musical version of this coming out? I've been looking everwhere for news but so far came up with one thing and it wasn't that helpful. Anyone heard anything yet? (I'm kind of excited..I always thought Ever After would make a lovely musical if done the right way)

Posted: 4/22/07 at 7:44amNothing on Google, but I imagine someone is looking into it. The film was a moderate success, and the material would lend itself very nicely.

I've heard of this as well. I can't recall who was composing, but I remember looking forward to hearing it.

Posted: 4/22/07 at 1:48pmI caught an interview with Drew Barrymore this morning. She was promoting Music and Lyrics and said she can't sing that well, so my guess is she won't be appearing on Broadway in a musical.

Posted: 4/22/07 at 7:55pmYeah all I remember seeing was that article and Aaron Lazar mentioned the workshops in one of his blogs. I think it would be a really great musical. One of the only Drew movies I've really liked for her acting.

Posted: 4/22/07 at 7:59pmThey did a reading of it in December of 2006. Just a small one for backers and to hear how things sounded, and Jenn Gambatese did play the lead. I listened outside the door and she wasn't great. The music is gorgeous though.

Posted: 4/22/07 at 8:14pmI remember hearing about this. Christina Sivrich played the nice sister (Jacqueline?), and Jenn Gambatese was the lead.

I saw Marcy & Zina in concert a few months ago and they are definitely working on this. The songs I heard were great. Here's some info from an article dated 2/07:
"As the second set began, singer Scott Coulter announced that, "Marcy and Zina are working on a new show. The movie Ever After will be done as a musical with Brooke Shields. Now 'girl-power' will create a Broadway musical. Marcy and Zina will write the songs and lyrics."
There was a first script but the producers were not pleased with it and therefore Marcy will write the script as well. She will also do the casting - which goes along with the script writing privileges, said Mr. Coudert who is involved with the team through his daughter Sandra.
He said "They have had their first live reading in December then they have to go on tour to hone up the show and they still will keep fine tuning it, adding more songs and eliminating some," he explained. "Thank God writing musicals is not a lost art. Broadway today is mostly musicals and most are revivals."
