I did search, and I didn't find anything, so forgive me if there was some other title for a thread about this.
I think it actually sounds like a good idea if it's done properly. I enjoyed this movie, and it's got a great team of writers, so I think it'll turn out well.
What do you guys think?
It sounds interesting...

I do love the movie.
But it won't be the same without Drew's lisp.

I could see it being done.
Shall we start our neverending wish lists of actors for it?
I think Jessica Grove would be great in the lead.
Matthew Morrison to play the Prince.
Harriet Harris or Maureen McGovern to play the StepMother.

How does it end? Is there a surprise? Like the Prince is really Lea Delaria?
If not then the fool slipper will fit and that's it.

Posted: 7/29/05 at 1:45pmI don't know -- what made the movie work (indeed, the whole concept of the movie) was that it felt real, as if Cinderella could have been a true story. I think a musicalization would bring back a fantastical quality that would make the premise hard to separate from the traditional CINDERELLA.

Posted: 7/29/05 at 2:01pmI think as long as it's done in a more dramtic musical way (like the way Gypsy is for example) as opposed to a campy production, it CAN seem more real than fantastical.

Posted: 7/29/05 at 2:03pmI love the movie and I think it could have great potential as a musical, as long ads they keep the realistic feel to it that the movie gave.

Yes, we need a fairy tale on Broadway.
Something tells me that Chris Seiber might be the prince..... (though im not his biggest fan)

Posted: 7/31/05 at 9:48pmOh so its actually happening? (well, tentativley) thats great! I thought it was just someone's idea. I watched it a couple nights ago, it really would work well. even if there are too many musicals based off current movies I think this one is actually a great choice it has a lot of potential.
