Now I love dark humor as much as the next but Evil Dead crossed the line, in my opinion, with a song entitled "Stupid Bitch". I had been prepared for it being utter crap, but its sexist as well as being brainless, and not in the tongue in cheek manner other musicals have adopted. Love the film, hate the musical.
A male calling a female a "Stupid Bitch" isn't funny, period.

the track actually refers to when Chloe flubbed during Legally Blonde.
You're right, its not a song, but still, does it matter if the words are sung or not?
I guess I should have said "track" instead.
Regardless, song or scene, its not funny.
Plus, they also need to pick up a rhyming dictionary.
Thin and Him do not a rhyme make.
Please, the "stupid b*tch" gets the last laugh, or did you not even see this show?
Besides that, this show is so far over the top beyond parody and silliness that to take even one single word of it seriously is just ridiculous.
I you had seen the show instead of taking some words completely out of context, you'd have seen what an idiot they made that guy out to be. It's just the opposite of sexism the way you're claiming it is.

The thing too is does the song fit with the character? can you call a piece misogynistic if it's just showing a character (parody or not) being so?
Parody or not, this character is an a-hole.

It's hard to know where to draw the line--I know of one stupdent paper who called Sondheim racist for his "n*loving" line in Assassins--when of course it's quintessential to John Wilkes Booth's character
BobbyBubby... You say you love the movie, hate the musical. But it sounds like you haven't seen the musical at all, given that you don't seem to understand the context of what was said and keep referring to the cast recording rather than the stage presentation.
Have you actually seen the show? Really?
(And you may want to pick up a dictionary yourself once in a while: you want "it's" not "its" when you mean "it is".)

A slant rhyme is a rhyme of two similar words...the 'im' and 'in' sound are VERY similar, and work fine as a rhyme. Just to let ya know.

A slant rhyme is also called 'assonance', and my favorite example thereof is Carl Weathers' opus "Action Jackson". It's close enough to work in a song.

Oh, butter my biscuit, I just remembered assonance only applies to vowel sounds. Still, it's used in most slant rhymes.

Horrow movies have a history of being misogynistic. I have the album but havent listened yet, But I imagine it's referring to the highly mysoginistic flavor of all horror films, so It would seem that it is tongue-in-cheek
And in fairness, the portrayals of women in most horror movies make me want to say 'Stupid bitch" all the time. As in "Why doesn't that stupid bitch call the cops instead of just hidinh in the attic!"

That's why he says it with a huge smile on his face.
And women aren't the only stupid bitches in the play. Death is also a stupid bitch.

I think to say that "Stupid Bitch" is sexist is crossing a line. Political correctness has become crazy in our society and little things such as this - which aren't insulting (if you've seen the show), by the way - should just be let go and accepted for what they are - jokes.

its just a joke, its a musical, and certainly not one meant to be taken seriously, just have fun with it. now if he Scott called Cheryl a stupid bitch and told her to get back into the kitchen, then that would be sexist. All it was, was the characters funny little running joke. According to him, Cheryl is a stupid bitch, and Death is a stupid bitch, and last i checked, Death has no gender. you know, im used to defending horror films because some people just dont like gore or scary things, so they attack them, but i never thought id have to defend Evil Dead: The Musical, because someone calls someone a stupid bitch.
It's a play. My god, have you ever seen a Mamet play?
