Evita or Scandalous?
#1Evita or Scandalous?
Posted: 10/3/12 at 11:56amI am coming into NYC for a few days in early NOV and already have tickets for "Drood", but I have room for a Sunday matinee and wonder if "Evita" or "Scandalous" would best suit my $$$. Any thoughts?

I admit. I saw Evita and I haven't seen Scandalous. My belief that you should see Scandalous instead is based ony on having heard 2 full songs performed the show with its Seattle cast, as well as several clips from other songs (and loving Carolee Carmello's performance enough to listen again and again), and the agony I was in when watching Evita. (You can go read other boards for the debate over Elena Roger).
Besides, as supersam1026 pointed out, Evita doesn't have Sunday matinees. Consider yourself lucky. While the set designs are beautiful, the singing is not (with the exception of the ensemble).

I haven't seen Scandalous but I have seen Evita.
Evita has got to be one of the dullest productions I have ever had to sit through.
And I generally like this musical.
It was about as enthralling as going to the dentist. And at least when I go to the dentist
I feel something.
I vote for Scandalous.

Posted: 10/10/12 at 11:53amThere is a reason no one has seen scandalous yet because it hasn't started previews yet. I saw it five times when it was in Seattle and i thought it was a great. I think alot of changes will be made in New York but it is a very good show with incredible music and a very interesting story. Evita is good but Scandalous was better :)

Posted: 10/10/12 at 12:03pmThank you for all the feedback. I too love "Evita", but cannot sit through Elena Roger after hearing the London recording with her. I think "Scandalous" wins.
