I had the exact same question as you before coming to NY end of June. We ended up getting tickets last minute due to our other scheduled show being cancelled. In my opinion, it is OK. It stays pretty true to the movie, but found act 1 dragged on and I was a bit bored. Act 2 picked up and I liked it better. The music is ok, but that's my personal preference as I tend to like more modern music like Wicked, Rent, BOM, etc. The two leads were pretty good with the cop beign excellent.
Would I recommend it? If you like older style music.
Did I enjoy it? Yes, by the second act.
Was I sorry I saw it? Regretted slightly that we hadn't gone iwth one of our other options as we only saw 2 shows when in NY
Would I see it again? No

I'm quite disappointed that weekly sales are not as high as I would have wanted. C'mon, 2 great theatre actors and a terrific score!?!
Does anyone know their weekly NUT? I hope they can survive for at least a year...
