I know F#%king Up Everything premiered at NYMF in 2009. Did anyone see it? How was it? I'm trying to decide whether to see this show during its upcoming Off-Broadway run.

I saw it at NYMF and mostly liked it. I thought it had more potential than most things I've seen at NYMF.
The music was very catchy and I remember there being some funny and well-penned lyrics. I was hesitant that a show about hipsters could become obnoxious, but it was sweet at the core and I liked the characters.
Noah Weisberg was great as the lead, and Liz Larsen was fun in a small, silly role. Ultimately though I would have cut her role and focused solely on the group of hipsters.
I wasn't aware a production was coming up. I'll be curious to see what changes they made. The tickets are reasonably priced so I'd say check it out.

Has anyone seen this yet? Have thoughts?
Their rush policy is kind of silly since tickets in general are only $25-30. Not much of a savings there.
RUSH POLICY
When the box office opens, a limited number of student rush tickets will be sold each day for that day's performance. Students with a valid ID may purchase up to 2 tickets for $25 each.

I saw this a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. It's light-hearted with good music and a fine cast. Max Crumm steals the show; he's developed his character with a lot of fine details. I was at a special 5:00 Saturday show and the place was full.
Would recommend it anyone who enjoys rock musicals.

Posted: 4/9/13 at 4:15pmIt was lots of fun. I had no idea what to expect, but it was lighthearted, entertaining and *gasp* sincere. I'm sure the cast and crew have no other intentions than to give audiences a great time and it's what they do. Crumm has all the makings of a true star, you can not take your eyes off of him and there is also a scene stealing performance from Lisa Birnbaum as an oversexed band promoter. After the show ended, my friend who was with me turned around and said "this is what I wanted from 'Once'", make of that what you will.

Max Crumm proves a charming and deft comedian. There are a number of genuine laughs and two cute, sweet songs in the first couple of scenes. Unfortunately, it flattens out thereafter.
I've sat through a lot worse, though.

I thought the show was better at NYMF where it was played more seriously and the hipster humor was subtler. Still I agree with the praise for Max Crumm. He was charismatic and sweetly dorky.
I know the space was small, but the staging was very weak. I felt like the actors were just plopped on stage without anything to do, and for that I give them credit that they did what they could to try to make it work.
Though Max is quite good the overall amateurish quality of the production would give me pause to recommend it too strongly.

I am very neutral to this show. I guess you could say I didn't like it, but I didn't hate it either. It did make me smile and laugh a couple of times, though it was often questionable whether was laughing at it or with it.
Max Crumm was definitely the best thing about it. He took a part that could have been rather annoying and made it work.
Jason Gotay on the other hand, was miscast. He just wasn't right. They needed someone closer to a John Gallagher, and he wasn't it.
The staging was very awkward, people seemed to walk on and off the stage for no reason.
The plot was equally as awkward, and seemed a few re-writes a way from really working the way it should. I also sadly didn't find the music very memorable either.
I am coming across a little harsh, but the piece is pretty harmless. It definitely was funny (some great sight gags with Max Crumm's shirts her wore!), and reasonably entertaining. Certainly a better 90 minutes spent here than with something like say, The Testament of Mary.

Excellent assessment, dave, as always.
It really was harmless.
Like moviegod's friend, I found it more enjoyable than Once. But then, so is watching paint dry. At least you don't have listen to all that wailing.
