1 - It closed a while ago
2 - It was off-broadway
i was also a huge fan on fame on 42nd street. it closed in june sadly, i saw the 2nd to last show. i liked it so much better than the movie.
OH my god, seriously? I would have to say that that production of FAME is probably the worst thing I have ever seen in my entire life - it was GOD AWFUL.
My dance teacher was in FAME on 42nd Street...it was fun to see her interacting with my friends and I if nothing else.
what part was she?
She was in the ensemble...that's why she could afford to kind of play to us without looking kind of silly...her name is Ambere Rogers.

RoxieB- It wasnt your first ever broadway show. I'll tell you why. It was never ON Broadway. The End.
There were some people on this board, including some people in this particular thread, that said mean things about FAME when it was playing. I posted a nice review a while back.
FAME is a really fun show. It's a bit of a musical theatre spaz-out. I have he OCR of the 42nd Street production and it's nice but not as good as the OLC of FAME: The Musical. FAME is a very popular show in the UK and is constantly touring as well as playing in the West End. Is it a popular show in the US? Has it ever played on Broadway?
yes alexis ann carra, i think thats her name, is/was in the wicked ensemble. i don't know of anyone else who moved somewhere else.

I'm not sure what the difference is between Fame on 42nd Street (I'm only 13), but I saw "FAME! The Musical" in Massachusetts last year...It was so incredible...I think that show may have been what got me interested in acting. I auditioned for a play produced by a local theatre group in my town (my 2nd "outside-of-school" performance) and I got the lead! I was Imogene Herdman in "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever". Does anyone know that play?

I love theatre. I'm a drama major. I went to an arts h/s. I've seen probably 300+ different productions over the years. Fame is the only show where I seriously considered walking out. It is the worst show I've ever seen, by far. I still have nightmares about that ridiculous In L.A. song.

I did stage crew for Fame when I was in high school.. after sitting through it at least dozen times, I can tell you, it's a bad show. (Especially the version the directors decided to put on, where we "adapted" songs and characters' names, and even added another character. Awful. We built an awesome set, though!)
I'm with you erinrebecca. I went to a high school that was known for doing great theatre productions. Until we did Fame, that is. Two years later, my university decided to do Fame as well. Despite great talent and wonderful stage crews and sets, the show is doomed just from the script and the plot. Or lack thereof.
As for how it is doing in the US, all I can tell you is that it cancelled performances in Columbus, Ohio due to poor ticket sales.
And speaking of In L.A....I was Schlomo, so I had to sit on stage while the girl playing Carmen sang it to me. I couldn't wait for the curtain to fall.
cheryl freeman has an amazing voice!! I'd also like to add her to my favorite belter's list!!

k, so I'm a HUGE fame on 42nd street fan--I saw it 17 times before it closed, yes, a tad obsessive, and before I'm attacked for liking it so much I have one thing to say, i think you like it depending on your viewpoint the bad part of the show is it only appealed to one specific set of people--teens who want to be actors--sad but true, which is why i loved it, it also helped because my parents are completely unsupportive of my love and refuse to let me do anything pertaining to it, so yeah, that is my opinion of it
Alexis is in Wicked as is Angela, she left earlier though for that purpose, around christmas I believe, um,
Kimmygonbefamous--thats so cool about ambere, she is such a sweetie
Amneris--you say sarah is in brooklyn, are you talking about sara schmidt? she was the only sara in the 42nd street production and I'm pretty sure she isnt in brooklyn

what I mean is that fame isnt one of those shows which can be more or less loved by a lot of people, most succesful shows appeal to a lot of people or have some phenomenal part about them (music, actors, set, etc.) fame had nothing, it really only appealed to a very specific group of peopl, thus it closed
the reason it does so well in regional and tours, is it is fluff, in its own way, it is quite cheesy, music dance etc. but not cheesy enough to make it in NY
iheartfame were you in the famefanatics message board thing. where u basically met everyone and i think the sn was saraschmidt or are you someone else?
