Re: Sondheim's books for his musicals being troubled--I thought that was the WHOLE POINT of the constant shifting of time/mood/emotion in FOLLIES which got very confusing at times.
Times change. WE change. You can TRY AND RECREATE the past, but it will NEVER happen. To me, that was the whole point of the FOLLIES book.
