One of our local theaters is advertising the National Tour of FORBIDDEN BROADWAY next month. I wasn't too impressed with the NYC version I saw on New Year's Eve. Does anyone know how good the tour is and if the material they perform is any different from the dismal NY company?
From what I've heard the tour is not definite yet. Any theater that is already advertising it is doing so prematurely.
When Corine2 hears this, she is going to wet her panties! She LOVES Forbidden Broadway!!

Sammy-
Do you happen to know if the touring version would be what's currently in NYC, or will it be an entirely new "show" just for the tour?
And it doesn't surprise me to learn that a theater is advertising it prematurely. They are probably using it to sell subscriptions to a series.
Someone I know who is close to the production told me that *if* the tour happens it will be a "best of" type of deal.
All of the best numbers from over the years.
As I said before, this is not a done deal yet.
Dismal NY Version.
Dolly go see the new version with Donna.
Then tell me it is dismal. You will love it.
My god you would have though i was Gerard. But i defend it like it was my own baby. Ha ha.
Oh well.
Sammy is Chita and Rita in it?

Corine,
If you read my original post on this thread, you would have seen that I saw FB on New Year's Eve. for all intents and purposes that was last month. It was dismal. Even Mayor Koch, who was in the audience, said that he's seen better versions of the show. Now why would I waste my hard earned money to see it again and be equally bored? Hopefully the touring company is a bit more talented.
Dolly,
I know but the new version (i have seen it since you have seen it and Donna English is back) It was changed and it is better.
Why not take Jai to see it he would love it.
He was so cute in Zanna Don't. (They have changed it twice since you have seen it i know i have seen it twice since you wrote that thread)
Please don't knock it till you see Donna English she is brilliant. Her Gypsy number blew me away.
Donna was not in it on New Years!

As I've said, I'm not wasting my money on the NYC version anymore. Angela Lansbury could take over one of the roles and I'd still stay away.
And Corine, I'm not dating Jai. After yesterday's book signing, I had a splendid dinner date at Il Duomo with someone who was handsome, charming, intelligent, witty and amusing. And yes, he's "in the business". I'll leave it to you to figure out who it was.
Well congrats.
Have fun i hope it puts you in better spirits.
To bad you are not dating Tim ACITO talk about gorgeous men.

Corine, why should I be in a better mood? You must remember that misery makes me happy. That's why I'm a teacher.
No, the man I dated last night (and who wants to see me again) is handsomer than your Tim, wittier than Neil Simon, more intellectual than William F. Buckley, and more charming than Hugh Grant.

Corine,
I saw FB a few weeks ago with Donna E. And I adore her ever since RUTHLESS!, FB is sorely lacking these days. It's hard to take their les mis parody seriously now because they are just as old and tired in many of their sketches.
I suggest buying the CD's if you want a retrospective of FB's. Not seeing this latest version.
It was a very long night.

Amen!
I have to agree with Corine2 that Donna definitely makes 'Forbidden Broadway' a whole new show. Sharper, funnier, etc.
Corine2 to answer your question... how could the Chita/Rita number *not* be in a "best of" Forbidden Broadway? That number is a classic.

MamaMia,
Donna is the only shining light in the production right now. SHE is sharp. SHE is funny.
I guess I just prefer past shows because they were mostly new material with a few classics thrown in. Seeing this show after seeing the show over the past several years, was just pale in comparison. Sorry, but that's my opinion. It was like watching a rerun

If anyone learns whether this tour is a "go" or not, please let me know.
For a moment, Dollypop and Corine2 were actually having a conversation. Thank goodness for small miracles.
Jeff G,
I have seen every Forbidden year of FB. I am sorry you don't like it as much as the older versions. I do wish they would bring back the Chita Rita number but i love the new Producers number with Nathan, the Harvey number with Michael West. I adore him. Can you feel the Pain tonight. Sarah Brightman.
For gods sake i adore all of FB Every glorious year.
Just call me the Forbidden Broadway groupie.
Oh congratulations Dolly i hope you will go to the altar soon.![]()
Just an FYI i have been dating a marvelous man so i am also chipper these days. The others are history at least for the moment.

"Alter" as in a dog when he's "altered" or "altar" as in a table of sacrifice?

I have two questions. First, do we know if this tour is Equity?
Second, DP, your date sounds delightful. Does he have a brother?
I belive Nathan Lane DOSE have a brother.
Nathan Lane ha ha.
Altar as in wedding.
