Posted: 2/20/04 at 2:45pmIn a mad rush to see a show Valentines day weekend my boyfriend and I bought tickets to see Forbidden Broadway. After all of the good things I heard I was very dissapointed. Yes Dollypop, it was dismal.

Alas, I concur. It was mainly the same older material I saw three years ago, and the new skits were variable. The Bernadette & Nathan takeoffs were okay, but the BOY FROM OZ and Harvey in HAIRSPRAY parodies were among the weakest I've ever seen. And the CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF number was a total misfire. And some older skits REALLY need to be retired - the Les Mis 1st Act Finale, ANNIE, "You Gotta Be Disgusting" the "Rocky Horror" number and any number that goes on and on about how homogenized Broadway today is.
An entirely new and sharper FORBIDDEN BROADWAY is long overdue.

You don't like the Annie number? What about Donna as Bernadette. The night she did it i swore it was Bernadette and her Julie Andrews is right on target.
Michael West is very funny and easy on the eyes.
(I agree about the Cat On A Hot Tin Roof but i love the Harvey number and the Millie number has grown on me)
Annie is one of my favorites and the tourists love it.

The trouble is, Corine, we're NOT tourists!
And the MILLIE number will, indeed, grow upon you--like a fungus!

Many people on this site are tourists and don't live in Manhattan.
Well i am not a tourist and i love the Annie Number. It kills me every time.
My new favorite number is the Bernadette number (Roses Turn-)
It makes me want to see Gysy a second time.

Posted: 2/21/04 at 2:14pmThat's too bad. However, Corine still loves it and that's important. She's been seeing it for the past 22 years. Eventually she'll start to understand it.
