OK,
Now that previews have started. Anyone seen this show from the front row? How is it, can you get a good perspective of the sets and see well. Or is it too, too close. and a pain in the neck?

Posted: 11/1/05 at 10:56amI just ordered front row seats for a performance in January but that was before reading all these cautionary warnings about sitting too close! Ahhh, is it going to ruin the experience? Please tell me no!

The cautions are mostly because of the projections. I've seen comments from people who saw the show in London who were made dizzy by the projections when they sat too close. When I saw the show for the first time in London, I was in the dress circle. The projections didn't bother me, so the next time I went I got a ticket for the front row of the stalls (orchestra). I had no problem at all.
I don't know how close the front row is to the stage in the Marquis though, so I can't help you there.

a friend of mine sat front row right orch for the first preview...she said the view was not bad at all except she had trouble seeing a few moments of action that took place when people were sitting on the stage/floor...but she said they were insignificant moments. I have front row seats for December...but center orch..and Im a lot taller than she is...so Im hoping I will be able to see fine. She said the sets prolly would be taken in better from say mid orch...but she said given the choice of Row X or Y or A again...she'd take the front row seats for the facial expressions.
Now Im worried about the dizzyness factor....IMAX movies make me dizzy on occasion...crap.

I agree -- Michael's facial expressions alone are worth risking dizziness!

Posted: 11/1/05 at 12:41pmIf you sit in the first couple of rows, the projections are out of focus. In order to be able to see them correctly (and not get dizzy), sit farther back.

Posted: 11/1/05 at 2:44pmI sat in the second row center orchestra on Saturday evening for TWIW. I suggest that you sit back further for this show.

Well, this show features a fairly innovative 180 degree video image backdrop to display most of the scenery. In my opinion, it moves too fast and is overutilized. I would have liked to have seen a better balance between a traditional set PAIRED with the video backdrop paced at a SLOWER speed and have it not changed so often. The video can be dizzying. Perhaps, if I was seated a bit further back, the video screen may not have not been as distracting. That said, the key actors turn in strong performances in TWIW.
Also, the conductor of the orchestra is a bit "jumpy" if you know what I mean. - Not too good if one is center orchestra up front at The Marquis.

The premium seats start at Row C - I suppose they consider that comfortable enough for viewing the show with the computerized images as sets. I saw the show in London on the fifth row and the viewing was excellent - I understand they have actually improved the way the images are projected for the Broadway version.
That said, I have chickened out of Row A and bought a ticket a little farther back for one of the performances.

Jo -
Thanks...I managed to score row C for 11/11 (at a discount nonetheless) and wondered how those projections would be from there...

Hope you enjoy the show and the performances ( especially that of the villainous Italian count
)!

Can someone tell me what front row actually is - on the plan that I have it is showing AA and BB - are they still there or is A the front row for WIW?????
Thanks.
